Collection: Hospital Beds and Accessories

Hospital beds are multi-purpose, comfortable beds for patients to sleep and be cared for. These beds provide comfort to the patient, while also leaving room for life-saving equipment and barrier-free interaction with the physician.

MFI carries certified pre-owned hospital beds from Hill-Rom and Stryker, as well as replacement bed pads and mattresses available from Joerns and North America Mattress. The beds are refurbished to ensure that they are fully functional and operate under necessary manufacturer specifications before they are shipped.

Hospital Beds vs Stretchers

Hospital beds are quite different from stretchers. Stretchers are used for emergency transportation, and are typically narrower with less weighty features. Hospital beds are much more robust, ensuring the utmost comfort for the patient and remaining sterile for treatments.

Stretchers may have room for some accessories, such as a defibrillator or oxygen tank holder, but are generally left lightweight to avoid obstructions while in transit. Hospital beds are generally left stationary, but are strong enough to support vital equipment and be put in a variety of positions to better access the patient's needs.

They extend benefits to both the caregiver and the patient, combining ease of use and functionality with comfort. All of the beds we carry are made for easy maneuverability and come with special features, such as adjustable positioning, caregiver bed controls, and side rails. These provide safeguards against falling out of bed while sleeping or assisting patients in rising out of bed by providing stabilization. Each hospital bed is stocked with its own set of unique features for whatever your needs may be.

Birthing Hospital Beds

Birthing beds have all the same amenities of a standard hospital bed, with the only difference being a foot end that can be lowered and the upper portion raised for a sitting position. In addition, stirrups are available at the bottom and can be raised when it's time to push. With such a versatile bed, the mother can feel more comfortable in place and not have to be transported.

Replacement Bed Pads and Mattresses

Hospital beds can't just be equipped with any old mattress. Specialized hospital mattresses are thicker, layered, and won't ever leave the patient "bottomed out" on the bed surface. It's recommended that if you need to replace a hospital bed mattress, you should purchase the correct brand and size to fit your hospital bed. Bed pads are also available to add on top of mattresses for added comfort and positioning for patients.

If more positioning soft surfaces are needed, there are a variety of pillows and positioners available to support the patient's limbs and other areas of their body.

Hospital Bed Accessories

The best accessories for a hospital bed may surprise you. It's not just bed rails and cylinder holders. MFI also carries essential accessories like medical air compressors, pumps, fetal monitors, pulse oximeters, EKG and more. For transferring patients, MFI also offers transfer boards for ease of movement.

At-Home Care

MFI offers certified refurbished hospital beds to residential customers as well. Considerations that should be taken prior to purchasing a hospital bed are the dimensions of the bed itself, and understanding the multiple methods of delivery available to customers. If the hospital bed is to be used for at-home care, a bed such as the Hill-Rom VersaCare Hospital Bed may be an appropriate choice. It features a Bed Exit System, which can help reduce patient falls related to unsupervised bed egress.
