Infection Prevention

Metrex offers a variety of infection prevention methods, including surface sprays, wipes, bleach solutions, and soaps.

Surface Disinfectants

There are three convenient cleaning methods for thoroughly disinfecting a space: wipes, spray, and bottles. With CaviCide and CaviCide1 solution, pathogens can be eliminated within one to three minutes, reducing the odds of cross-contamination. Metrex’s EnviroCide is a more broad spectrum cleaner that is safe to use in sensitive areas of a facility.

Metrex also features a line of convenient disinfecting wipes, including CaviWipes Bleach, CaviWipes1, and the new CaviWipes 2.0. These towelettes are soaked in the CaviCide solutions mentioned above, guaranteeing that pathogens are killed in three minutes or less, depending on the solution. Lastly, for faster cleaning, there’s MetriGuard: a ready-to-use, housekeeping disinfectant spray that’s effective against HBV and TB.

Instrument Reprocessing

Metrex EmPower, MetriZyme, MetriLube, and MetriShine can all be used to disinfect and maintain tools and instruments. EmPower and MetriZyme contain enzymes that break down and clean organic debris, such as proteins, blood, and other soils. MetriLube keeps metal instruments and hinges lubricated and protected from spotting and rust, while MetriShine is an effective descaler that improves any flaws left behind by autoclaves and washers.

Hand Sanitizers and Soaps

Hand hygiene is as important as disinfecting surfaces in a healthcare setting, and Metrex offers VioNexus brand foaming soaps and no-rinse sprays. VioNex No Rinse Sprays offer quick, convenient ways to clean hands on the go. The VioNex AntiMicrobial Liquid Soap and VioNexus Foaming Soaps provide protection against pathogens, while also being non-drying and non-irritating on the hands. These soaps feature specialized formulas that keep hands clean and moisturized, even after washing several times per day.

High Level Disinfection

Sensitive medical devices require a different solution for sterilizing when traditional heat sterilizing isn’t a possibility. Metrex offers their MetriCide line, which includes four solutions for disinfecting purposes on various categories of heat-sensitive equipment and instruments.

The original MetriCide, MetriCide 28, and MetriCide Plus 30 work effectively for anesthesia equipment, respiratory equipment, stainless steel, plastic, rubber, and lensed instruments. MetriCide OPA Plus works best for endoscopy tools, sterile processing, and in surgery centers. It’s important to note for all these solutions, test strips are recommended to monitor proper glutaraldehyde levels for cleaning prior to use.
