SleepSense designs, manufactures and distributes products that are latex free, safe, reliable, and comply with all US and international regulations. Their comprehensive warranty illustrates the confidence that they have in SleepSense products. Among the SleepSense diagnostic sensor products are respiration effort, airflow, snoring, body position, and movement.

Respiration Effort Sensors and Interface Cables

SleepSense Inductive Effort Bands

SleepSense offers both reusable and semi-reusable inductive belts that help measure respiration on a patient. The Reusable Inductive Effort Belt (Adult) is easy to clean, has a one year warranty, and is one size fits most, while the Semi-Reusable Inductive Belts have Velcro tabs that make adjustments easy, have an expected life of roughly 70 uses, and come in multiple sizes from the Neonatal Belt to the Adult XXL Belt.

The inductance of the inductive band is exactly proportional to the cross-section area of the bands closed loop around the body. It therefore changes as the patient breathes. The electronics in the system or interface box measure these inductance changes to generate a signal that is an accurate and reliable replication of respiration waveforms.

SleepSense Inductive Interface Cables

The various SleepSense Inductive Interface Cables allow you to connect any SleepSense inductive belt to nearly any PSG system. The interface cables are available in both abdomen and chest options, and the internal battery on the cables are good for 700 nights. A wide range of different connectors are available including Standard DIN, Embla (Key Connector), Universal Inductive, Alice 3, Alice 4, Alice 5, and Alice 6, and each of them are compatible with their corresponding PSG system.

SleepSense Piezo Respiratory Effort Sensors

SleepSense Respiration Effort Sensors provide a clear, artifact-free, qualitative indication of respiration. Using a piezo-electric crystal, the respiration effort sensor converts chest or abdominal respiration movement to a small analog voltage that provides a clear, reliable indication of respiration waveforms. The sensor's high sensitivity provides improved signal stability even if the sensor shifts during the night. Choose between Piezo Crystal or Piezo Film technologies, and three different strap attachment designs including a double buckle, a loop, and double Velcro tabs. These Piezo Crystal Effort Sensors come with a one year warranty, and are available in infant, pediatric, and adult sizes. The Piezo Respiratory Effort Sensors are also available with different connectors including a Safety DIN, Embla (Key Connector), Alice 3, Alice 4, Alice 5, and Stardust.

Airflow Sensors

SleepSense ThermoCan

SleepSense has created a product that is more comfortable for patients, easier for technicians to use, and resolves the issue of thermistor breakage. The SleepSense ThermoCan is a more convenient and cost-effective way to monitor thermal and pressure airflow simultaneously. The Disposable ThermoCan Cannula will connect to any pressure transducer, and the Reusable ThermoCan Interface Cable will easily hook into the sides of the ThermoCan Cannula, which then connects to a thermal airflow port that transmits the thermal airflow measurement to nearly any PSG system.

SleepSense Reusable Thermal Flow Sensors

The SleepSense Thermistor/Thermocouple Flow Sensors are comprised of heat sensitive elements that produce a signal directly proportional to the temperature changes of air inhaled and exhaled during respiration. The sensor generates a small analog electrical voltage that provides clear, reliable indication of respiration airflow.

The SleepSense PTFlow Thermistor/Thermocouple Flow Sensors feature a hanger that easily attaches to any brand of adult nasal cannula allowing you to use this product simultaneously with a pressure cannula. This sensor holds durably to the cannula, has bendable prongs for patient comfort, and provides consistent quality signals throughout the night.

SleepSense Pressure Cannulas

SleepSense Pressure Cannulas are designed with no-kink technology, and are soft, flexible, and specifically designed for sleep studies. When used with SleepSense Pressure Flow Sensors, they detect respiratory airflow and snoring measurements. SleepSense Pressure Flow Sensors employ a piezo membrane to generate a small voltage in response to pressure changes and acoustical input. The dual output connects to nearly any system and monitors both pressure flow and snoring. SleepSense also has a selection of pediatric cannulas including the SleepSense Pediatric Nasal Pressure + Capnography Monitoring Cannula which monitors both pressure and capnography at the same time.

Snoring Sensors

SleepSense Snore Sensors

SleepSense Snore Sensors attach on the patient's neck to provide clear, artifact free and qualitative indications of snoring and respiratory sounds. SleepSense offers three sensor technologies for optimal matching with your clinical needs and system specifications including Piezo Snore Sensors, Dynamic Snore Microphones, and Electret Snore Sensors.

Using a Piezo-electric crystal, the SleepSense Piezo Snore Sensor converts vibrations in the neck caused by snoring to a small analog voltage that provides a clear, reliable indication of the presence of snoring. SleepSense implemented a small bump into the design of the Piezo Snore Sensor, which maintains constant contact with the patient's skin throughout movements or sweating, ensuring consistent quality signals throughout the night with little to no artifact.

The Dynamic Snore Microphone offers a wide frequency range, and sensitivity to other respiratory sounds besides snoring. The sensor converts snoring, and other sounds in the audio range picked up through the skin, to a small analog voltage that provides a clear, reliable indication of the presence of these sounds.

The SleepSense Electret Snore Sensor is a small and very sensitive electret (capacitive) snore microphone, and exhibits a wide and flat frequency response while providing high quality output signals.

Body Position Sensors

SleepSense Body Position Sensors

Using a gravity switch, the SleepSense Body Position Sensor provides a signal that is directly proportional to the patients sleeping posture (supine, prone, left, right or sitting). These AC/DC Body Position Sensors may be connected to suitable high-level channels on the recorder and feature a wide range of connectors that make them compatible with most PSG systems. The improved body attachment ensures the alignment of sensor and body axis. These sensors feature a sturdy mechanical design, and have a one year warranty.

Movement Sensors

SleepSense Limb Movement Sensors

SleepSense Limb Movement Sensors provide a clear, artifact-free, qualitative indication of limb movements. These sensors are easy to apply and are comfortable for the patient. Optimal positioning on the tendons ensures exceptional sensitivity. Also, a SleepSense Y-Splitter Cable can be used to connect two Piezo Limb Movement Sensors to one input on the system.

Other SleepSense Products

SleepSense also offers other products including a Sensor Tester which helps test Standard DIN sensors and electrodes to make sure there is no break in the cabling or sensor device.

Another innovative product that SleepSense offers is the EZ-Talk. The EZ-Talk fits between a CPAP mask and its hose giving CPAP users an easy way to momentarily stop the flow of air to talk, cough, or take a sip of water, without the inconvenience of removing the entire mask.
