The Detecto 437 Physician Scale features a 10.5" x 14.5" (27 cm x 37 cm) platform, and a dual-side die-cast aluminum weigh beam that can be read from either side of the scale.

Construction of the scale itself is all steel with a heavy-duty electrostatic powder-painted finish. To increase the weighing capacity of this scale, a conversion weight (#809161182804) may be used.
