Collection: Pulmonary Brushes

Pulmonary brushes are medical tools utilized to obtain samples from the lungs or bronchial tree. These brushes consist of a flexible shaft featuring bristles at the end, which can be extended and retracted by a wire. They are frequently used to diagnose respiratory conditions, including infections and abnormal cell growths.

Bronchoscopy, a minimally invasive procedure that permits the examination of the lungs' airways, employs pulmonary brushes. During bronchoscopy, a bronchoscope is inserted through the mouth or nose and into the lungs, enabling visualization of the lungs' interior and collection of tissue or fluid samples.

Pulmonary brushes are particularly beneficial in detecting lung cancers, infections, and other pulmonary diseases. They can also identify abnormal lung cells that may indicate the presence of respiratory diseases or lung cancer.

MFI Medical carries an assortment of pulmonary brushes from ConMed, including the Multi-Purpose 1.7 mm Brush, the Bronch Sheath 3 mm Brush, and the Harrell 4 mm Bronch Brush, all of which can be used to collect bronchial cytology samples.
