Description

The Rhythmlink Disposable MR Conditional EEG Cup Electrode (12 per Pack) is intended for use in the recording of the EEG, EP, or as a ground or reference in an EEG or EP recording. Eliminate the need to remove and reapply EEG electrodes each time a patient requires magnetic resonance (MR) imaging.

Warranty: Until Use or Expiration.

These electrodes are non-sterile, and may remain on the patient each time they require a MRI during critical care continuous EEG (CCEEG) monitoring, long term epilepsy monitoring, or any other situation requiring 1.5 and 3T MR imaging. They cannot be used for data collection while in a MR environment because the extension cables must be removed prior to entry into the MR environment. After leaving the MR environment, use the numbered heath shrink to reconnect the extension cables to the matching electrode.

This electrode provides high quality recordings and eliminates the risk of cross contamination to ensure your patients are safe, all while reducing the time of cost of having to remove and reapply electrodes. They can be easily mixed with Webb electrodes. Rhythmlink Disposable MR Conditional EEG Cup Electrodes are the only FDA cleared Disposable MR Conditional Electrodes on the market.

*Rhythmlink MR Conditional Disposable EEG Cup Electrodes are only approved for use with Weaver Ten20 Conductive Paste.

Frequently asked questions

Do these electrodes allow continuous monitoring during 1.5T or 3T MRI?

Yes, these Rhythmlink Disposable EEG Cup Electrodes are MR Conditional, allowing them to remain on the patient during MRI scans at both 1.5T and 3T field strengths. This is crucial for continuous monitoring, eliminating the need to remove and reapply electrodes for MR imaging.

Key Features and Requirements

  • FDA Cleared Status: These are the only disposable MR Conditional electrodes on the market that are FDA cleared, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Required Paste: You must only use Weaver Ten20 Conductive Paste to ensure guaranteed performance and MR compatibility.
  • Simplified Reconnection: The leads include numbered heat shrink to guarantee accurate re-connection of extension cables after exiting the MR environment.

Critical Safety Note: While the electrode cups remain on the patient, all associated extension cables are MR Unsafe and must be disconnected before the patient enters the MR environment.

What are the primary functions of these electrodes?

These Rhythmlink electrodes are specialized, disposable devices primarily used for electrophysiology monitoring, especially in clinical environments requiring frequent access to Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging.

Primary Functions:

  • Recording EEG (Electroencephalography) signals.
  • Recording EP (Evoked Potential) signals.
  • Serving as a ground or reference electrode.

Key Benefit: MR Conditional Status

These are the only FDA Cleared Disposable MR Conditional Electrodes on the market, allowing them to remain safely on the patient during 1.5T and 3T MR imaging. This is crucial for continuous monitoring (e.g., CCEEG, long-term epilepsy studies) as it eliminates the need for electrode removal and reapplication, which saves time and reduces procedural risk.

How many electrodes are included in one pack?

Each pack contains 12 Rhythmlink Disposable MR Conditional EEG Cup Electrodes. This ensures you have an adequate supply for various monitoring needs.

What durable materials compose the electrode?

The Rhythmlink electrodes are constructed from durable, high-quality, and latex-free materials to ensure excellent signal acquisition and safety.

Key materials used for the components are:

  • Cup: The 10 mm cup is made of ABS plastic and features a critical Ag/AgCl (Silver/Silver Chloride) coating for reliable signal transduction.
  • Lead Wire: Composed of tinned copper and protected by a robust PVC jacket.
  • Connector: DIN 42 802.
Are the high-quality EEG electrodes latex-free?

Yes, these Rhythmlink Disposable MR Conditional EEG Cup Electrodes are designed with patient safety and environmental considerations in mind, reducing potential risks during monitoring:

  • Both the electrode cups and the leadwires are latex-free, minimizing the risk of allergic reactions for sensitive patients.
  • The product is supplied in PVC-free packaging (a polyethylene pouch).
How do I ensure accurate cable reconnection?

Accurate cable reconnection after the patient exits the MR environment is guaranteed by a specialized design feature:

  • Numbered Heat Shrink: Each electrode lead wire includes numbered heat shrink near the disconnect point.
  • Purpose: This numbered system ensures the precise re-connection of the extension cables (which must be detached before MR entry), maintaining the correct channel setup for high-quality continuous EEG (CCEEG) monitoring.
Are these disposable EEG electrodes sterile?

No, the Rhythmlink Disposable MR Conditional EEG Cup Electrodes are not sterile.

These are manufactured as single-use disposable devices primarily to ensure patient safety and optimize workflow:

  • Minimizing Contamination: Being disposable helps eliminate the risk associated with cleaning and reusing electrodes, thus minimizing cross-contamination.
  • Material Safety: The electrodes and leadwires are certified as latex-free.
  • Packaging: The product utilizes PVC-free packaging.
Is Weaver Ten20 conductive paste required for use?

Yes, these Rhythmlink MR Conditional EEG Cup Electrodes are only approved for use with Weaver Ten20 Conductive Paste.

This specific paste is the mandated and only approved medium to ensure optimal signal quality and maintain compliance with the product’s safety and performance standards for high-quality EEG and EP recordings.

What are the available cable lengths?

The Rhythmlink electrode system utilizes a two-part design crucial for its MR Conditional capability. This includes a fixed lead wire attached to the electrode and a variable-length extension cable:

  1. MR Conditional Lead Wire (Fixed Length): Each electrode features a fixed 9-inch (240 mm) lead wire connected directly to the cup. This short lead wire is MR Conditional (approved for 1.5T and 3T imaging) and includes the crucial disconnect point, ensuring the connection is safely managed outside of the headwrap.
  2. MR Unsafe Extension Cables (Selectable Lengths): These detachable cables connect to the 9-inch lead wire and are available in three lengths:
    • 1.0 meter
    • 1.5 meters
    • 2.5 meters

Important: The longer extension cables are MR Unsafe and must be removed at the 9-inch disconnect point before the patient enters the MR environment.

Do these electrodes use a standard connector?

Yes, these disposable cup electrodes feature the DIN 42 802 connector standard. This ensures broad compatibility with various existing EEG and evoked potential (EP) recording systems, allowing for easy integration into your current monitoring setup.
