I purchased these because they had the safety feature and also had the lip on the edge of the catheter that appeared it would allow me to advance the catheter into the vein with one finger, but that was not the case. They were very difficult to separate the catheter from the flashback chamber, and required two hands to separate them.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear these weren't easy to use. Your comments help us improve, and we'll pass this on to the manufacturer.

Can you draw blood directly from these IV catheters as we will draw after initial poke for blood so patient doesnt need to be poked again

MFI Medical

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. The B. Braun Introcan Safety Straight IV Catheter is designed primarily for safe and effective IV access. While it incorporates advanced features for patient and healthcare worker safety, the product documentation does not specifically mention the capability to draw blood directly from the catheter after initial insertion. Typically, IV catheters are used for the administration of IV fluids and medications rather than for blood draw purposes. For procedures requiring blood draws, it’s generally recommended to use devices specifically designed for that purpose to ensure the best patient care and outcomes.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or if there’s anything else we can help you with.

Thank you!
