Having a portable defibrillator within reach in public areas can drastically improve the survival rate of cardiac arrest victims. Defibtech is a premier provider of top-notch portable defibrillators, each with specialized features for both trained and untrained emergency responders.
History of Defibtech
Defibtech is an innovator in the design and implementation of defibrillators and other CPR devices. Their defibrillators are designed for first responders who may not have formal training in administering defibrillation, as they feature step-by-step instructions and vocal commands to assist the responder. With these tools at hand, a cardiac arrest victim can receive life-saving defibrillation until emergency responders arrive.
MFI Medical carries the Lifeline ECG AED and the Standalone AED Trainer Package. The Lifeline ECG AED comes with a four-year battery, adult pads, operation guide and CD user manual. It provides both video instructions and vocal commands, and is estimated to have enough battery power for 125 shocks, or eight hours of continuous use, if needed. This device is designed to be in standby, ready for whenever an emergency occurs and is bright yellow for quick identification.
The Standalone AED Trainer Package is a training AED device that is not intended for use with real patients, but instead trains inexperienced responders on how to use the defibrillator. This training device comes with a battery and charger, in addition to reusable training pads and an instructor remote. Instructors can select a number of scenarios on the device to challenge their trainees and the pads are reusable for multiple training sessions.
There are a variety of accessories available to accompany the Lifeline series of devices. Most important are the replacement defibrillation pads, as standard pads are designed for one-time use. Defibtech offers Adult and Pediatric Defibrillation Pads, which are color coded for quick identification. It’s vital that the correct defibrillation pad be used depending on the patient’s age. Reusable training pads are also available for the training AED, but please note that these are not intended for use with actual patients.
For storage of the Lifeline devices, Defibtech offers a convenient wall bracket, cabinet, and/or carrying cases. The wall bracket and cabinet keep the device mounted in line of sight for emergencies, but the difference is that the cabinet keep the device safe from outside elements while the wall bracket leaves it exposed. The carrying cases available include a soft case, hard shell cases, and a trainer case specifically for the Training AED device.
