Warranty: 90 Days - Parts and Labor.

The Xltek EMU40EX amplifier, featuring Bluetooth wireless technology, offers both continuous patient monitoring and data security. Patient surveillance is important in epilepsy monitoring, and the Xltek EMU40EX provides reliable monitoring.

With the EMU40EX's extended-range Bluetooth wireless technology, patients can move freely about the clinical area while still being monitored. EEG data is recorded on flash memory in the wearable unit and uploaded when the patient plugs back in, guaranteeing no data is lost or compromised.

The Bluetooth connection from the patient's breakout box to the EMU40EX base unit is strictly point-to-point. Data cannot be intercepted or received by any other Bluetooth-enabled device in the area.

Designed for EMU facilities, the EMU40EX can also be used for clinical EEG and some in-lab sleep studies. It offers 40 clearly marked AC channels that allow for full 10-20 electrode placement. In addition, oxygen saturation and pulse rate channels are available from the integrated oximeter. Plus, there are four extra DC channels available on the base unit. Lastly, a photic-stimulator interface and a patient-event-switch interface complete the EEG functionality.

The EMU40EX is suitable for fixed and portable applications. It can be fixed to a wall or mounted on carts, with quick-disconnect options allowing to move the unit easily and safely.

Masimo SET:

Pulse oximetry was developed to monitor patients at risk of heart/lung failure, but Conventional Pulse Oximetry (CPO) often fails on the very sick patients because they have poor perfusion and/or are experiencing motion. That's why the EMU40EX includes Masimo SET pulse oximetry. Masimo SET pulse oximetry improves care and may reduce medical errors by accurately tracking the patient's physiology when it's needed most - during motion and low perfusion. The Xltek EMU40EX with Masimo SET pulse oximetry provides accurate measurements.

Sturdy and Reliable:

Featuring solid-state electronics, the EMU40EX was designed to withstand the day-to-day wear an EEG amplifier is subjected to. The lightweight (0.6 lb) and palm-sized EMU40EX breakout box records directly to a central server, the hard drive of a local station, or its own internal flash memory.

With an Xltek EMU40EX, your recorded data will enable accurate interpretation. Enhanced sampling rates (either 256, 512, or 1024 Hz) ensure that EMU40EX provides great diagnostic EEG results. The EMU40EX is capable of either USB or TCP/IP connections and can work seamlessly in any network architecture with both fixed and DHCP addressing.

Frequently asked questions

Is the EMU40EX suitable for both EEG and PSG studies?

Yes, the Xltek EMU40EX EEG/PSG System is a highly versatile medical monitoring solution designed for several demanding clinical environments, including:

  • Epilepsy Monitoring Units (EMU): This is the system’s core application, providing continuous, secure, long-term surveillance through its wireless, extended-range amplifier and internal flash memory recording.
  • Clinical EEG Procedures: It is fully equipped for comprehensive electroencephalogram monitoring, supporting full 10-20 electrode placement with 40 clearly marked AC channels.
  • In-Lab Sleep Studies (PSG): The system is also capable of performing in-lab polysomnography studies, benefiting from integrated Masimo SET pulse oximetry for accurate SpO2 readings.

Its modular design allows it to be used flexibly in both fixed clinical installations (wall or cart mounted) or in portable applications.

Does the EMU40EX provide secure wireless monitoring?

Yes, the Xltek EMU40EX provides secure and continuous wireless patient monitoring, crucial for intensive Epilepsy Monitoring Units (EMU) and clinical EEG procedures. The system utilizes advanced features to maintain security and data integrity:

  • Secure Bluetooth Connection: Monitoring uses extended-range Bluetooth technology. The connection is strictly point-to-point, ensuring the data link cannot be intercepted by other local Bluetooth devices.
  • Data Integrity: To guarantee no data is lost during temporary disconnections (allowing patient mobility), all EEG data is automatically recorded to the amplifier’s internal flash memory before being uploaded once the connection is re-established.

Furthermore, the amplifier unit is lightweight (0.6 lb), palm-sized, and built with durable, solid-state electronics to withstand the rigors of daily use in demanding clinical settings.

What hardware is included with the EMU40EX system?

The Xltek EMU40EX system is a Certified Refurbished hardware package designed for comprehensive EEG and PSG studies. The package includes the following core components:

  • Wireless Monitoring: Utilizes secure, extended-range Bluetooth technology for continuous surveillance, granting patients freedom of movement within the clinical area.
  • Secure Data Integrity: Data is recorded to internal flash memory within the wearable unit. This prevents data loss if the wireless connection is temporarily interrupted during movement, ensuring continuous data capture before automatic upload.
  • Flexible Deployment: The unit features quick-disconnect options, allowing seamless use in either portable or fixed applications (such as wall or cart mount).
Does the system prevent data loss during patient mobility?

Yes, the Xltek EMU40EX system is designed to prevent data loss and maintain integrity, even when the patient moves out of wireless range.

The system uses a two-part approach:

  • Wireless Connectivity: It uses extended-range Bluetooth wireless technology for real-time monitoring.
  • Data Redundancy: EEG data is continuously recorded and stored locally on the amplifier’s internal flash memory.

If the wireless connection is temporarily lost, recording continues locally on the flash memory. The stored data is then automatically uploaded to the base unit once the connection is re-established, ensuring a complete record.

Does the system feature Masimo SET pulse oximetry?

Yes, the Xltek EMU40EX system includes an integrated oximeter utilizing Masimo SET pulse oximetry. This technology is specifically used because it provides accurate monitoring of oxygen saturation (SpO2) and pulse rate even in challenging clinical conditions, such as during patient motion or low perfusion states.
