Frequently asked questions

Are these scissors truly lightweight for extended use?

Yes, these scissors are part of the Sklarlite XD line. They are manufactured using a unique process that removes microns of metal from standard designs, significantly reducing weight to minimize hand fatigue during prolonged surgical procedures while maintaining full structural integrity.

Does the blade design help with precise suture removal?

Absolutely. The blades are engineered for maximum precision:

  • Serrated blade with notch: Specifically designed to cradle the suture securely.
  • Razor edge blade: Provides a clean, sharp cut.
This combination allows the tips to slide under sutures easily and lift them gently without slipping.
Is the stainless steel construction durable for clinical use?

Yes, these are Sklar Premium Grade instruments. Despite the lightweight design, they are constructed from high-quality, durable stainless steel to ensure they meet the rigorous demands of professional surgical environments.

Can these scissors be reused after sterilization?

Yes, these are designed as reusable surgical instruments. They are built to withstand the necessary cleaning and sterilization cycles required for clinical surgical tools.

Is the material safe for patients with latex sensitivities?

Yes, the Sklarlite XD Precision Scissors are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for patients with latex allergies.

Are these instruments compliant with government procurement standards?

Yes, these scissors are TAA compliant, meeting the requirements for Trade Agreements Act compliance.

What is the benefit of the straight curvature design?

The straight 4-1/2 inch profile allows for direct access and line-of-sight during delicate suture removal, providing the surgeon with superior control in tight or restricted surgical areas.

How do the finger rings contribute to surgical control?

The traditional finger rings are designed for ergonomic, secure handling. They provide the stability and tactile feedback necessary for the high-precision maneuvers required when working with extra-delicate tissues.

Are these scissors considered professional-grade?

Yes, these belong to the Sklar Premium line of surgical instruments, which are manufactured to strict professional standards for quality, reliability, and precision.

Is the finish designed to reduce glare under OR lights?

The scissors feature a finely brushed finish that is specifically designed to minimize glare from bright operating room lights, ensuring better visibility for the surgeon during delicate procedures.
