Frequently asked questions

Is the material suitable for latex-sensitive environments?

Yes, the SklarLite Sterilization Container is 100% latex-free. It is specifically constructed to be free from natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for medical and clinical settings where latex sensitivities are a concern.

How does the Safe Lid system protect my instruments?

The Safe Lid system includes an additional solid cover that sits over the primary lid. This secondary layer serves several vital purposes:

  • Shielding: It protects the primary lid’s perforation and filter components from damage or debris.
  • Stacking: The solid design is specifically engineered for secure and stable stacking during storage or transit.
Is the container lightweight despite its industrial build?

Yes. While it is built for high-duty, industrial-grade performance, it is crafted from anodized aluminum alloy. This material choice provides superior durability and structural integrity while remaining significantly lighter than traditional steel sterilization containers, making it easier to handle and transport.

Can I use this for long-term instrument storage?

Absolutely. Because it is made of durable, high-quality anodized aluminum, it is designed for both the sterilization process and secure, long-term storage. Its rugged construction ensures it can withstand the rigors of a busy medical or laboratory environment.

Does the non-perforated bottom affect its usage?

The non-perforated bottom is ideal for specific protocols where a solid barrier is required at the base. It is perfect for instances where fluid containment or avoiding bottom-venting is necessary for your specific sterilization or transport workflow.

How durable is the aluminum construction?

The container is built to professional-grade standards using anodized aluminum alloy. This process hardens the surface, providing excellent resistance to wear, corrosion, and the physical demands of repeated sterilization cycles.

Are there compatible accessories available for this unit?

Yes, this half-size container is designed to be highly versatile and works perfectly with a variety of Sklar accessories, including:

  • Silicone instrument mats
  • Specialized internal baskets
  • Custom ID labels
  • Standard filtration components
Is this container designed for repeated use?

Yes, this is a reusable medical device. It is engineered as a long-term solution for healthcare facilities, meant to survive many repeated cycles of sterilization and handling.

What are the exact external dimensions of this container?

This model is a half-size container with nominal external dimensions of approximately 11-1/4” x 11” x 5”. The 5-inch height refers to the usable depth, providing ample room for standard medical instruments.

Is this a professional-grade medical device?

Yes. Sklar is a recognized name in surgical and medical instrumentation. This container is factory-new and manufactured to meet the high standards required for medical, laboratory, and surgical environments.
