Description

Sklarlite Precision Scissors are used for suture removal and have harp tips that easily slide under and gently lift sutures in preparation for removal. One of the blades has a notch that the suture rests in before it is cut. Sklarlite instruments are a lighter version of standard Sklar instruments, using a unique manufacturing process that shaves microns off standard and delicate pattern instruments while maintaining structural integrity and durability. This lightweight modification provides the surgeon with greater control and less fatigue.

Frequently asked questions

Does the lightweight design truly reduce hand fatigue?

Yes. These scissors undergo a proprietary manufacturing process that removes microscopic amounts of material to reduce weight without compromising strength. This deliberate weight reduction helps minimize hand fatigue, allowing for greater control during extended clinical procedures.

Are these scissors durable enough for repeated clinical use?

Absolutely. Despite being lightweight, these are high-quality, reusable surgical instruments. They are constructed from durable stainless steel and graded as Sklar Premium or Grade, ensuring they meet the structural integrity standards required for repeated use in professional clinical environments.

How does the notched blade help with suture removal?

The notched blade design provides a secure and reliable way to remove sutures. One blade features a specific notch designed to cradle the suture material, holding it firmly in place before the second, razor-edged blade makes the cut. This ensures a clean, precise, and controlled removal every time.

What is the benefit of the 'harp tip' design?

The specialized harp tips are engineered specifically to assist with suture removal. Their design allows them to easily slide underneath the suture, gently lifting it away from the skin surface so it can be cut safely and accurately.

Are these scissors safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, you can use these with confidence. The Sklarlite Precision Scissors are manufactured without the use of natural rubber latex.

Are these instruments TAA compliant?

Yes, this specific model (23-1296) is TAA compliant, making it suitable for procurement in environments that require adherence to the Trade Agreements Act.

What is the exact length of these precision scissors?

These instruments measure 4-1/2 inches in length, providing a compact and highly maneuverable size that is ideal for the delicate work of suture removal.

Do I need to worry about sterilization before use?

Yes, please note that these scissors are delivered non-sterile. As they are reusable, clinical protocols for sterilization should be followed before using the instrument on a patient for the first time or between procedures.

Are these suitable for delicate surgical tasks?

Yes. Beyond their primary function of suture removal, their sharp/sharp (S/S) tip configuration and curved profile make them an excellent choice for any surgical task requiring high precision and delicate handling.

How should I categorize the build quality of these scissors?

These are categorized as Sklar Premium or Grade, which signifies that they are professional-grade surgical implements designed for consistent performance and durability, aligning with standard surgical instrument quality requirements.
