Description

Sklarlite Iris Scissors are a lighter version of the standard Sklar Iris Scissors. A unique manufacturing process developed by Sklar shaves microns off standard and delicate pattern instruments while maintaining structural integrity and durability. This lightweight modification provides the surgeon with greater control and less fatigue. Originally designed for ophthalmic procedures, Iris Scissors have become a multipurpose instrument used in various surgical environments. These fine, sharp, finger ring scissors are ideal for detailed dissection of fine tissue and fine suture removal. In addition to ophthalmic procedures, Iris Scissors are now often used in emergency rooms and for OB/GYN and dermatologic procedures. This product is curved with smooth, sharp/sharp tips and measures 3-1/2 inches in length.

Frequently asked questions

Does the extra light weight truly help with fatigue?

Yes. The Sklarlite manufacturing process specifically shaves microns off standard surgical steel to reduce overall weight. This design is engineered to minimize hand strain and surgeon fatigue during extended, delicate procedures.

Can these scissors be used for more than eye surgery?

Absolutely. While they were originally designed for ophthalmic procedures, their precision and versatility make them highly effective for:

  • Fine tissue dissection
  • Delicate suture removal
  • Emergency room and dermatologic tasks
  • OB/GYN applications
Are these scissors durable enough for repeated use?

Yes, these are professional-grade, reusable surgical instruments. They are constructed from high-quality stainless steel and built to withstand the rigors of standard surgical sterilization and repeated clinical use.

Are the tips sharp enough for fine work?

The scissors feature sharp/sharp (S/S) tips combined with a smooth working edge. They are specifically configured for high-precision tasks that require extreme accuracy and the manipulation of delicate tissues.

Is the material safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, the Sklarlite Iris Scissors are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for patients with latex sensitivities.

What is the benefit of the CensiTrac marking?

The CensiTrac marking indicates that the instrument is compatible with modern surgical asset management and tracking systems, ensuring efficient inventory control and instrument lifecycle management in a clinical environment.

Are these tools compliant with government standards?

Yes, the Sklarlite Iris Scissors are TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliant, ensuring they meet the necessary standards for government procurement and institutional use.

Does the curved blade design affect handling?

The curved on flat blade configuration is designed to provide better clearance and visualization. It allows the surgeon to reach around structures or navigate tight surgical fields more easily than straight scissors.

Are these scissors sterile upon arrival?

These instruments are supplied non-sterile. They should be cleaned, inspected, and sterilized according to your facility’s established protocols for surgical instruments before their first use.

Is the stainless steel of high quality?

Yes, these instruments carry the Sklar Premium or Grade designation. This reflects a commitment to high-quality manufacturing, ensuring both excellent cutting performance and long-term structural durability.
