Description

Supercut SklarHone Metzenbaum-Lahey Dissecting Scissors are used for dissecting and cutting tissue only. These scissors are not recommended for cutting sutures or drains. Metzenbaum-Lahey scissors tend to be shorter than traditional Metzenbaum scissors. Supercut Sklarhone scissors combine one knife-like razor edge and one micro-serrated scissor edge. These scissors can be used to cut both delicate and heavy tissue because of their unique design. The micro-serrations of the Supercut Sklarhone scissors minimize tearing of tissue so cuts and edges are smooth and clean. Sklarhone instruments are identified by dual black finger rings. This product is curved, has one razor edge, one micro-serrated edge, blunt tips, and an overall length of 4-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does this instrument offer superior precision for delicate tissue?

Yes. These scissors feature Supercut Technology, which combines a knife-like razor edge with a micro-serrated edge. This unique dual-edge design is engineered to deliver highly precise, clean cuts while actively minimizing tissue tearing during dissection.

Can I use these scissors for cutting sutures or drains?

No, these scissors are strictly intended for the dissection and cutting of tissue. Using them on sutures or drains can damage the specialized cutting edges and dull the instrument, compromising its performance for delicate surgical tasks.

Why is the dual-edge blade configuration beneficial?

The combination of one razor-sharp edge and one micro-serrated edge provides exceptional versatility. This allows the surgeon to manage a wide range of tissue types, from very delicate to heavier tissue, without sacrificing control or needing to switch instruments.

Are these instruments suitable for long-term clinical use?

Yes. These are reusable, high-quality stainless steel instruments. They are built for durability and repeated sterilization, making them a reliable choice for professional surgical environments.

How can I easily identify these as authentic Sklarhone instruments?

Sklarhone instruments are instantly recognizable by their distinctive dual black finger rings. This signature aesthetic helps staff quickly identify the Supercut line within a busy surgical setting.

Does the blunt tip design impact dissection performance?

The blunt/blunt tip configuration is specifically chosen to facilitate safe dissection by reducing the risk of accidental punctures. It allows for controlled tissue separation while maintaining the precision provided by the curved blade design.

Is this product safe for patients with latex allergies?

Absolutely. This product is not made with natural rubber latex, ensuring it is safe for use in clinical settings where latex sensitivity is a concern.

What standard of quality does this instrument meet?

These scissors are part of the Sklar premium grade line of instruments. They are TAA compliant and built to meet rigorous professional standards for surgical tools, backed by a lifetime warranty.

How does the 'curved-on-flat' design assist the surgeon?

The curved-on-flat configuration is designed to improve visibility and access. It allows the surgeon to reach deeper or awkward anatomical spaces more easily while maintaining a clear line of sight to the tip of the blade.

Does this tool come ready for immediate surgical use?

The product is supplied non-sterile. While it is Factory New, standard surgical protocols require that the instrument be cleaned and sterilized according to your facility’s established procedures before it is used in any medical operation.
