Description

Sklarhone Metzenbaum-Lahey Dissecting Scissors are used for dissecting and cutting tissue only. These scissors are not recommended for cutting sutures or drains. Metzenbaum-Lahey scissors tend to be shorter than traditional Metzenbaum scissors. Sklarhone scissors feature one knife-like razor sharp edge and one standard scissor edge. This allows the user to make the sharp incisions of a knife with the cutting ability of scissors. Catching skin and pulls are minimized by the use of Sklarhone premium scissors. Sklarhone instruments are identified by dual black finger rings. This product is straight, has one razor edge blade, blunt tips, and an overall length of 5-3/4 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the dual-edge design improve cutting precision?

Yes, the unique Sklarhone™ design combines one razor-sharp edge with one standard edge. This configuration provides the precision of a knife for sharp incisions while maintaining the utility of scissors, helping to achieve cleaner cuts with less tissue resistance.

Are these scissors suitable for cutting sutures or drains?

No, these instruments are engineered exclusively for delicate tissue dissection. They are not intended for cutting sutures, drains, or other non-tissue materials, as this could damage the specialized cutting edges.

Is this instrument made with high-quality, durable materials?

Absolutely. These scissors are manufactured from premium-grade stainless steel and are built to be reusable, ensuring they stand up to the rigors of professional surgical environments.

Are these designed to minimize tissue catching and pulling?

Yes, they are specifically optimized for dissection. The dual-edge geometry reduces drag and trauma to surrounding tissue, allowing for smoother, more controlled movements during delicate procedures.

Is there a feature that makes this line easy to identify?

Yes, the Sklarhone™ line is easily identifiable by the distinct dual black finger rings on the handles, which helps surgical staff quickly distinguish them from standard instrument sets.

Do the blunt/blunt tips offer added safety during procedures?

The blunt/blunt (B/B) tip configuration is intentional. It helps prevent accidental punctures to underlying structures or vessels, allowing the surgeon to safely dissect tissue planes.

Are these professional-grade scissors TAA compliant?

Yes, these scissors meet TAA compliance standards, making them suitable for procurement in environments that require adherence to these specific regulatory and origin requirements.

Is this surgical instrument free from natural rubber latex?

Yes, this product is manufactured without the use of natural rubber latex, ensuring safety for both patients and medical staff with latex sensitivities.

How does the Metzenbaum-Lahey profile differ from standard scissors?

The Metzenbaum-Lahey family is characterized by a shorter, more compact profile compared to traditional Metzenbaum scissors. This allows for greater maneuverability and precise control in tighter surgical fields.

Are these scissors durable enough for repeated clinical use?

Yes, these are designed as reusable surgical instruments. With proper care and sterilization protocols appropriate for high-grade stainless steel, they are engineered for long-term clinical utility.
