Description

Sklar's Ziegler Cilia Forceps are used for grasping and holding cilia, also known as eyelashes. The tips of Ziegler cilia forceps resemble the heel of a shoe. The tip itself is rounded, but the inside working surface, although smooth, is raised very slightly from the rest of the forceps body and creating the look of a shoe's heel. Ziegler cilia forceps are similar to Beer cilia forceps; however, the tip of the Beer instrument is 4mm wide, whereas the Ziegler is 2mm wide. This product is straight and an overall length of 3-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps precise enough for delicate hair manipulation?

Yes, these forceps are engineered for high precision. The Ziegler pattern features a 2mm tip width, which is specifically designed to be finer than other standard forceps, allowing for a more secure and delicate grasp on individual cilia.

What is the benefit of the unique 'heel-of-a-shoe' tip design?

The signature Ziegler tip design features a rounded, slightly raised working surface. This shape mimics the heel of a shoe, which helps optimize your grip on cilia, ensuring a firm hold while maintaining the gentle touch required for ophthalmic procedures.

Is the material durable for repeated surgical use?

Absolutely. These forceps are crafted from high-quality stainless steel, a robust material chosen for its longevity and resistance to wear, ensuring the instrument remains reliable through repeated sterilization and clinical use cycles.

How do these compare to Beer cilia forceps?

While both are excellent surgical tools, the primary difference is the tip size. The Beer cilia forceps typically feature a 4mm tip, whereas the Ziegler pattern provides a more compact 2mm tip, offering greater precision for finer, more localized tasks.

Are these forceps safe for users with latex allergies?

Yes, you can use these with confidence. This product is not manufactured using natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for clinical environments where latex sensitivity is a concern.

How should I prepare this instrument before my first procedure?

As this instrument is supplied non-sterile, you must follow standard clinical protocols for cleaning and sterilization before its first use, as well as between subsequent patient procedures, to ensure complete medical safety.

Is this a TAA compliant medical instrument?

Yes, the Sklar Ziegler Cilia Forceps meet TAA compliance standards, ensuring they adhere to the necessary regulatory requirements for procurement in various medical and government settings.

Are these forceps easy to handle during long procedures?

They are designed with a straight configuration and an overall length of 3-1/2 inches, providing a balanced, ergonomic form factor that is easy to manipulate and control during precise ophthalmic work.

Does the working surface have a textured grip?

The working edge style of these forceps is smooth. This design choice is intentional to facilitate a secure grip while minimizing trauma to delicate tissues or hair during manipulation.

Can I trust the manufacturing quality of these forceps?

Sklar is a well-regarded name in surgical instrumentation. These forceps are precision-engineered to meet rigorous professional standards, ensuring that the alignment and tip geometry are consistent and reliable for every procedure.
