Frequently asked questions

Do the Tungsten Carbide inserts offer better performance?

Yes, the integration of Tungsten Carbide (TC) inserts provides significant advantages over standard stainless steel:

  • Superior Grip: Ensures a secure hold on fine suture needles, reducing the risk of slippage.
  • Enhanced Durability: Offers increased resistance to wear and tear, ensuring the instrument maintains its precision over long-term use.
Is this instrument suitable for delicate microsurgical procedures?

Absolutely. This tool is specifically engineered for microsurgical applications. Its slim profile and specialized design allow surgeons to confidently handle fine suture needles within very small or constrained operative fields.

Does the handle design support prolonged use?

Yes, the handle is designed with ergonomics in mind to minimize hand fatigue. It features:

  • Double leaf spring: Provides smooth, controlled tension.
  • Texturized grips: Semi-cylindrical, knurled surfaces ensure optimal tactile control and comfort, even during complex, high-dexterity procedures.
How secure is the needle grip during procedures?

The needle holder provides excellent security through two key features:

  1. Catch Mechanism: Includes a reliable catch to lock the holder in place once the needle is grasped.
  2. Smooth Jaws: The working edge style is specifically designed to provide a firm, stable grip on fine needles without causing damage to the suture materials.
Is this instrument designed for repeated clinical sterilization?

Yes, this is a reusable instrument. It is crafted from Sklar Premium Grade stainless steel, which is built to withstand repeated sterilization cycles necessary for maintaining high surgical standards in medical environments.

Does this tool meet high-standard surgical compliance?

Yes, the Toledo Micro Needle Holder is TAA compliant. This certification reflects that the instrument meets the rigorous requirements for government and high-standard clinical procurement.

Is the 8-1/4 inch length ideal for microsurgical control?

The 8-1/4 inch length is chosen to provide a perfect balance between reach and dexterity. This length allows for deep access into small operative sites while maintaining the stability and leverage required for precise needle placement.

Is this needle holder safe for latex-sensitive patients?

Yes, this instrument is not made with natural rubber latex. It is constructed from stainless steel and Tungsten Carbide, making it a safe choice for environments where latex sensitivity is a concern.

What is the primary material used in this instrument?

The instrument is constructed primarily from high-quality, premium-grade stainless steel. This provides a robust, rust-resistant foundation, which is then augmented with Tungsten Carbide inserts at the tips for enhanced durability and grip strength.

Does the leaf spring mechanism aid in precision?

The double leaf spring mechanism is essential for precision as it provides consistent, predictable tension. This allows the surgeon to open and close the jaws with minimal resistance, facilitating the smooth, fluid movements required during delicate microsurgical tasks.
