Description

Sklar Shortbent Suture Scissors are primarily used for suture removal. These scissors have a small hook shaped tip on one blade that slides under sutures to slightly lift them slightly before cutting for removal. This hook also holds the suture so it does not slip off the blade of the scissors prior to cutting. Shortbent suture scissors are smaller than many standard suture scissors and they have delicate blades, ideal for removal of small sutures. They should not be used for cutting tissue. This product has straight shanks with smooth, curved blades, blunt/blunt tips and a length of 3-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the specialized hook tip improve precision?

Absolutely. The hook tip is specifically engineered to slide underneath the suture, lifting it away from the skin. This ensures the suture stays securely in place and prevents slipping while you make the cut, resulting in a much cleaner, more accurate removal process.

Are these scissors crafted for lasting durability?

Yes, they are constructed from high-quality stainless steel. Because they are built to be reusable, they are designed to maintain their integrity and precision through repeated use, making them a reliable long-term investment for your instrument tray.

Are these scissors ideal for fine suture removal?

Yes, their 3-1/2 inch size and delicate blade construction are specifically optimized for fine and small suture removal. They are designed to provide the control necessary for working in small areas where precision is paramount.

Does the blunt tip design enhance user safety?

The Blunt/Blunt (B/B) tip configuration is a deliberate safety feature. It allows you to safely maneuver the instrument around the suture without the risk of accidentally piercing or scratching the patient’s skin, which is a common concern with sharper, pointed scissors.

Are these instruments suitable for standard sterilization protocols?

Yes, these are reusable surgical instruments. Please note that they ship in a non-sterile condition, so they must be processed through your facility’s standard sterilization protocols before their first use in a clinical setting.

Are these scissors safe for latex-sensitive clinical environments?

Yes, these scissors are not made with natural rubber latex. They are completely safe for use on patients or by staff members with latex sensitivities.

Do these scissors meet high professional medical standards?

They certainly do. These are TAA compliant instruments, reflecting professional-grade construction. Additionally, Sklar backs this instrument with a Lifetime warranty, underscoring their commitment to quality and reliable surgical performance.

Are these versatile enough to cut soft tissue?

No, these are strictly specialized for suture removal only. Because of their specific blade geometry, hook, and blunt tips, they are not intended for cutting tissue and should not be used for that purpose.

Do these offer comfortable and secure handling?

Yes, they feature a traditional finger ring design. This allows for a secure, comfortable grip that provides the surgeon or clinician with the fine motor control required for delicate suture removal tasks.

Are these reliable tools for professional clinical settings?

These are specialized, factory-new surgical tools. They are designed specifically to complement professional, reusable surgical instrument sets and are ideal for use in operating rooms, clinical settings, or sterile processing departments where reliable, precise suture removal is required.
