Description

Sklar Rochester-Oschner Forceps are a heavy instrument designed to aggressively grasp medium to heavy tissue or occlude heavy, dense vessels. They have horizontal serrations the entire length of the jaw as well as 1 X 2 teeth at the tip. The combination of full serrations plus teeth ensure a firm grip on the tissue or vessel being held. Rochester-Oschner Forceps are available either curved or straight and in multiple lengths. These forceps are sometimes referred to as simply Oschner Forceps, however, Rochester-Oschner Forceps are actually heavier than standard Oschner Forceps. This product is curved with full, horizontally serrated jaws, 1 X 2 teeth, and a length of 5-1/4 inches. It also features a delicate pattern.

Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps suitable for grasping dense tissue?

Yes, these Rochester-Ochsner forceps are specifically engineered for aggressive tissue grasping and occluding heavy vessels. The combination of full-length horizontal serrations and 1x2 teeth at the tip ensures a highly reliable and firm grip on dense material.

Is the stainless steel construction durable for frequent clinical use?

Absolutely. These instruments are crafted from high-quality, surgical-grade stainless steel. This material is chosen specifically to provide the longevity and durability required for repeated sterilization and clinical usage.

Does this model support tracking for surgical instrument management?

Yes, this specific version is CensiTrac marked. This integration allows healthcare facilities to track the instrument efficiently, ensuring better management and accountability within clinical environments.

Is the ratchet mechanism secure during surgical procedures?

The forceps feature a high-precision ratchet locking mechanism located just below the finger rings. This allows the surgeon to lock the instrument securely at various tension levels, providing controlled and reliable performance during procedures.

Are these forceps safe for patients with latex sensitivities?

Yes, these Sklar forceps are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for practitioners and patients who need to avoid latex-related materials.

How should I handle the instrument before its first use?

Please note that the instrument arrives non-sterile. Before its first clinical application, it must be processed through your facility’s standard sterilization protocols for reusable surgical instruments.

What is the benefit of the delicate pattern design?

While the Rochester-Ochsner design is inherently built for heavy-duty tasks, this delicate pattern variant offers a more refined handling experience, allowing for precision in surgical tasks that require a balance of strength and finesse.

Is this instrument compliant with trade requirements?

Yes, this instrument is TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliant, meeting the necessary requirements for procurement in various governmental and institutional settings.

Are these forceps designed for heavy or delicate vascular occlusion?

They are designed for heavy vessel occlusion. The heavy-duty construction, paired with the 1x2 teeth tip configuration, prevents slippage and provides the secure clamping necessary for occluding heavy vessels safely.

Is this tool easy to clean and maintain?

Yes, being made of polished surgical-grade stainless steel, the instrument is designed for easy cleaning. It is a reusable tool that stands up well to standard sterilization methods used in surgical facilities.
