Description

Sklar Rochester-Oschner Forceps are a heavy instrument designed to aggressively grasp medium to heavy tissue or occlude heavy, dense vessels. They have horizontal serrations the entire length of the jaw as well as 1 X 2 teeth at the tip. The combination of full serrations plus teeth ensure a firm grip on the tissue or vessel being held. Rochester-Oschner Forceps are available either curved or straight and in multiple lengths. These forceps are sometimes referred to as simply Oschner Forceps, however, Rochester-Oschner Forceps are actually heavier than standard Oschner Forceps. This product is straight with full, horizontally serrated jaws, 1 X 2 teeth, and a length of 6-1/4 inches. It also features a delicate pattern.

Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps designed for heavy-duty surgical use?

Yes, these are specifically classified as Rochester-Ochsner Forceps, which are engineered to be heavier and more robust than standard Ochsner models. They are designed for aggressive grasping of medium to heavy tissue or the occlusion of dense vessels.

Do these forceps provide a secure grip on tissue?

Absolutely. They feature a dual-action gripping mechanism to ensure a firm hold:

  • Horizontal Serrations: Run along the entire length of the jaw for consistent traction.
  • 1x2 Teeth: Located at the tip to provide an exceptionally secure purchase on tough or dense tissue.
Is high-quality material used for these instruments?

Yes, these forceps are constructed from high-quality stainless steel. This ensures durability, longevity, and the ability to withstand repeated sterilization processes required for reusable surgical instruments.

What is the benefit of the 'delicate' pattern designation?

The ‘delicate’ pattern indicates that while the tool is built for robust grasping of substantial tissue bundles, it is refined to avoid the excessive bulkiness often associated with standard, heavier Rochester-Ochsner designs. It offers precision handling without sacrificing strength.

Can I lock these forceps in place during a procedure?

Yes, the instrument includes a ratchet mechanism integrated with the finger rings. This allows you to lock the forceps at a specific tension, maintaining a secure, constant grip on tissue or vessels as needed.

Are these forceps safe for patients with latex sensitivities?

Yes, these forceps are explicitly not made with natural rubber latex, making them suitable for use in environments where latex-free materials are required.

Are these forceps intended for single use or multiple uses?

These are reusable surgical instruments. They are built from durable materials to support repeated sterilization cycles in a clinical setting.

Do these instruments come ready for immediate surgical use?

No, they are supplied as non-sterile. You will need to process and sterilize them according to your facility’s protocols before they are ready for use in a surgical environment.

Is this product TAA compliant?

Yes, this specific instrument is TAA compliant, meeting the necessary standards for government procurement and institutional requirements.

Is there a warranty backing the craftsmanship of these forceps?

Yes, these forceps are backed by a lifetime warranty. This reflects Sklar’s confidence in the manufacturing quality and the longevity of this surgical instrument.
