Frequently asked questions

Is this instrument built to last for many procedures?

Yes, these forceps are manufactured to Sklar OR Grade standards using high-grade stainless steel. They are designed for frequent surgical use and rigorous sterilization processes, backed by a Lifetime Warranty.

Does the design help prevent hand fatigue during surgery?

Absolutely. The forceps feature an ergonomic ratchet finger ring handle system. This allows the instrument to securely lock in place, which frees the surgeon’s hands and provides reliable, adjustable tension without continuous manual pressure.

Are these forceps suitable for handling delicate vascular tissue?

Yes. The blades feature a half-serrated edge specifically designed to provide a secure, non-slip grip on delicate blood vessels without causing unnecessary trauma.

Will this instrument help improve visibility in the surgical field?

Yes, the instrument is engineered with a long, thin frame and a fully curved design. This specialized silhouette ensures that surgeons maintain an unobstructed, clear line of sight to the surgical area.

Is the material safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, this product is 100% latex-free and is not made with natural rubber latex, making it safe for patients with latex sensitivities.

Can these be integrated into existing sterilization workflows?

Yes. These are reusable surgical instruments designed for integration into standard sterile processing workflows. They are constructed to withstand the high-temperature and chemical demands of repeated autoclave cycles.

How long is this specific model?

The Sklar Overholt-Geissendoerfer Forceps measure 8-1/4 inches in length, providing an optimal reach for accessing deeper or more confined anatomical structures.

Does this product meet government procurement standards?

Yes, this instrument is TAA compliant, meeting the requirements for trade agreement compliance often necessary for government and institutional medical procurement.

Are these forceps provided sterile upon arrival?

The forceps are shipped non-sterile. They should be processed through your facility’s standard sterilization protocols before their first use in a surgical environment.

What is the primary surgical application for this tool?

This instrument is specifically designed for general surgery, particularly for the precise manipulation, grasping, and clamping of blood vessels where a secure hold and clear field of view are critical.
