Description

Sklar's Lambert Chalazion Forceps are ophthalmologic thumb forceps used to evert the eyelid and expose chalazion for drainage and removal. This instrument has two circular tips. One is solid and the other is fenestrated. The chalazion on the eyelid is isolated between the two tips and the forceps are tightened by an attached screw lock, which pushes the chalazion upwards so the procedure can be completed. The size and consistency of the chalazion are primary factors when choosing which chalazion forceps to use. Larger chalazion, as well as those with hard matter, will require larger incisions. Therefore, forceps with larger tips may be more useful. Similarly, smaller chalazion, or those determined to contain only fluid, may be excised with smaller incisions and the use of forceps with a smaller diameter. This product is straight with smooth tips and a length of 3-1/2 inches. The diameter of the tips of this product is approximately 10mm.

Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps made of durable stainless steel?

Yes, these forceps are manufactured from high-quality stainless steel, ensuring long-term durability and reliability for repeated, professional use in medical environments.

How does the locking mechanism improve precision?

The integrated screw lock mechanism allows the surgeon to securely grasp and hold the chalazion during manipulation. This lock maintains constant, upward pressure, which is essential for stabilizing the tissue during excision or drainage.

Is this instrument safe for latex-sensitive patients?

Absolutely. This product is strictly not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for use in professional medical environments where latex sensitivity is a concern.

Does this tool provide precise eyelid eversion?

Yes, the instrument is specifically designed for effective eyelid eversion. The 10mm tip diameter and the combination of a solid tip with a fenestrated tip allow for superior isolation and exposure of the chalazion.

Are these forceps designed for professional ophthalmic clinics?

Yes, they are an essential ophthalmic surgical instrument specifically engineered for treating chalazia in clinical and surgical settings where precision and reliability are required.

Is this a reusable surgical instrument?

Yes, this instrument is classified as reusable. Its high-quality stainless steel construction is designed to withstand the rigorous demands of repeated surgical procedures.

Does it comply with medical regulatory standards?

Yes, this product is TAA compliant, meeting the necessary regulatory standards required for professional procurement and use in medical facilities.

Will these forceps minimize tissue trauma?

Yes, the instrument features smooth working edges. This deliberate design choice helps minimize potential trauma to the delicate eyelid tissue during manipulation and eversion.

What is the recommended sterilization process?

As this instrument is supplied non-sterile, it must undergo standard facility-approved sterilization protocols for stainless steel surgical instruments before its first and subsequent uses.

How large are the forceps' grasping tips?

The forceps feature tips with an approximate diameter of 10mm. This specific size is ideal for isolating chalazia and provides the necessary surface area for secure grasping and controlled pressure.
