Description

Sklar's Keyes Cutaneous Punch is a dermal diagnostic instrument used to remove skin samples for biopsy. The round sharp end is pushed into the skin and twisted slightly to cut away a small plug of skin. The solid knurled handle provides a gripping surface for the user who controls the depth of the excision. The Keyes punch is often used in gynecological biopsies where a deeper tissue sample is useful for the pathologist. This specific punch has a 6mm diameter, however, is available up to 8mm.

Frequently asked questions

Is this punch made of durable, long-lasting materials?

Yes, this instrument is constructed from high-quality stainless steel. This durable material ensures it is robust enough for repeated surgical use and frequent sterilization cycles without compromising the integrity of the tool.

Does the handle design allow for precise control?

Absolutely. It features a solid knurled handle, which provides a secure, non-slip grip. This design is specifically engineered to give the clinician maximum control when applying the rotational force required for precise tissue excision.

Is this instrument safe for repeated sterilization?

Yes, as a professional, reusable instrument, it is designed for frequent reprocessing. Please note that it is supplied non-sterile, so it must be autoclaved or sterilized according to your facility’s protocols before its first use and between all clinical procedures.

Is this device safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, the Sklar Keyes Cutaneous Punch is completely not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for latex-sensitive patients and clinical environments.

Is this punch reliable for obtaining standardized tissue samples?

It is engineered for high precision. The sharp, 6mm round cutting tip creates clean, standardized plugs of tissue, which are essential for accurate pathological analysis and clinical evaluation.

Does this instrument meet strict regulatory requirements?

Yes, this model is TAA Compliant. This makes it an appropriate choice for institutional or government procurement environments where compliance with the Trade Agreements Act is a mandatory requirement.

Is the length comfortable for standard clinical use?

With an overall length of 4 inches, it is designed for optimal balance and ergonomics. This standard length provides the necessary reach while maintaining the leverage required for controlled biopsy procedures.

Is this suitable for various clinical practices?

Yes, this diagnostic instrument is highly versatile and commonly used across both dermatological and gynecological fields. It is specifically intended for procedures that require the extraction of a precise, cylindrical skin sample.
