Description

Sklar's Graefe Fixation Forceps are thumb forceps used in ophthalmologic procedures, often in veterinary health. In veterinary procedures these forceps are used to hold the third eyelid, also known as the TEL. The Graefe forceps are useful for holding this delicate tissue firmly because of the fine serrations. This product is straight with 4mm flat, serrated jaws and an overall length of 4-1/4 inches. It does not have a locking catch mechanism but there is a stop peg to prevent an overly harsh grasp on the tissue being held.

Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps suitable for delicate veterinary procedures?

Yes, these forceps are specifically designed for delicate veterinary ophthalmology. They are ideal for grasping sensitive tissues, such as the third eyelid (TEL), providing a secure grip without excessive trauma.

How does the stop peg mechanism protect tissue?

The integrated stop peg acts as a mechanical safeguard. It physically prevents the forceps from closing completely, which limits the amount of pressure you can apply to the tissue and helps avoid accidental crushing.

Is the material durable for frequent clinical use?

Absolutely. These forceps are manufactured from high-quality, professional-grade stainless steel, designed for long-term durability and repeated use in demanding medical environments.

Are these forceps safe for users with latex allergies?

Yes, this product is 100% latex-free. It is not made with natural rubber latex, ensuring safety for both the practitioner and the patient.

Does the handle design allow for precise manual control?

Yes, the thumb-operated, non-locking design is engineered for maximum operator control. By using constant manual pressure, you can precisely modulate the force applied during delicate fixation tasks.

What is the specific grip style of the jaw tips?

The jaws feature fine vertical serrations on a flat tip configuration. This texture is specifically designed to provide a firm, non-slip grip on fine membrane structures.

Is this a TAA-compliant medical instrument?

Yes, these Graefe Fixation Forceps meet Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliance standards, making them suitable for procurement in facilities that require TAA-compliant equipment.

How long is this surgical instrument?

The Sklar Graefe Fixation Forceps have a total length of 4-1/4 inches, providing a compact and ergonomic profile for precision work.
