It is used when initial incisions are made and maintains exposure of the hip area so the surgeon has an unobstructed view. Many different blades may be used with this retractor as well as a weight and chain, which is used to tilt the retractor 45 degrees, providing a greater view of the anterior side of the hip joint. This product is a curved, flat, short blade measuring 25mm x 51mm.

Frequently asked questions

Is the stainless steel construction suitable for frequent sterilization?

Yes, this retractor is crafted from high-quality, professional-grade stainless steel specifically designed for clinical longevity. It is fully reusable, meaning it is built to withstand repeated sterilization cycles in demanding hospital operating theater environments.

Can this retractor be used with supplemental weight systems?

Absolutely. The instrument is engineered for versatile compatibility and can be easily integrated with supplementary weight and chain systems. This integration facilitates a 45-degree tilt, which is essential for improving visibility during anterior hip joint access.

Does the blunt tip design prevent tissue damage?

Yes, the instrument features a blunt tip configuration purposefully designed to provide a secure grip on the incision site while minimizing trauma to the surrounding tissues during hip arthroplasty.

Is this product made with natural rubber latex?

No, the Sklar Charnley Retractor is 100% latex-free and is not manufactured with natural rubber latex, ensuring safety for both patients and medical staff with sensitivities.

How does the self-retaining mechanism improve surgical workflow?

The self-retaining design allows the retractor to hold the incision site open consistently without manual intervention. This provides the surgeon with a stable, unobstructed view of the hip area, allowing them to focus entirely on the precision of the procedure.

Are the blades compatible with other surgical attachments?

The Sklar Charnley Retractor is designed with versatile compatibility in mind. It is engineered to support a variety of blade attachments, allowing medical teams to customize the setup based on the specific requirements of the arthroplasty procedure.

Is this instrument TAA compliant for hospital procurement?

Yes, this model is TAA compliant, meeting the necessary regulatory requirements for inclusion in medical facilities and government-affiliated surgical departments.

What are the specific dimensions of the blade provided?

The retractor comes with a standard curved, flat blade measuring 25mm x 51mm. This dimension is optimized for providing clear exposure during initial incisions in hip reconstruction procedures.

Does the finish help reduce glare during surgery?

The instrument features a professional-grade, brushed-steel finish. This finish is specifically chosen for surgical instrumentation because it effectively resists glare under intense operating room lighting, helping to maintain a clear visual field.

Is this instrument designed for professional medical use only?

Yes, the Sklar Charnley Retractor is a professional-grade medical device intended strictly for use by trained medical professionals within orthopedic surgical environments and hospital operating theaters.
