Description

Sklar Bozeman Forceps are a multi-functional instrument commonly used in gynecological procedures. They are used for tissue removal in dilation and curettage procedures, intrauterine device retrieval, and packing the uterine cavity. The shanks of this instrument are slightly curved and therefore provide greater visibility when used in the uterine cavity. The jaws are available either curved or straight. This product features an "S" curve (slightly curved shanks with jaws slightly curved opposite direction) with partial horizontal serrations and a length of 10-1/4 inches. This product has one larger finger ring on the handle and may also be known as Bozeman-Douglas Forceps due to this feature.

Frequently asked questions

What makes the 'S' curvature design advantageous?

The ‘S’ curvature is a specialized design feature that significantly improves the surgeon’s line of sight. By having slightly curved shanks and jaws that curve in the opposing direction, the instrument allows for clearer, unobstructed visibility within the uterine cavity during delicate procedures.

Is this instrument durable enough for frequent clinical sterilization?

Absolutely. It is manufactured from high-quality, reusable stainless steel, specifically selected for its durability and resistance to the rigors of repeated sterilization cycles in a professional clinical environment.

Does the instrument offer a secure grip for delicate tissues?

Yes, the jaws are precision-engineered with partial horizontal serrations along the working edge. This design ensures a firm and secure grasp on tissue during procedures such as D&C or IUD retrieval.

Why does the handle feature one large finger ring?

The handle configuration, which includes one noticeably larger finger ring, is a hallmark of the Bozeman-Douglas pattern. This specific design is intended to provide better control, stability, and comfort for the user during operations.

Which specific gynecological procedures is this tool best for?

This forceps is highly versatile and specifically engineered for several key procedures, including:

  • Dilation and Curettage (D&C)
  • IUD retrieval
  • Uterine cavity packing
Is this product safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, this instrument is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for use with patients who may have latex sensitivities.

Is this forceps TAA compliant?

Yes, the Sklar Bozeman-Douglas Uterine Dressing Forceps is fully TAA compliant, meeting the necessary requirements for federal procurement and medical supply chains.

Does the instrument arrive ready for immediate surgical use?

The instrument is provided non-sterile. Before its first use and between subsequent uses, it must undergo appropriate cleaning and sterilization protocols as required by your facility’s safety guidelines.
