Description

Sklar Blue Potts-Smith Tissue Forceps are most commonly used for grasping fine or delicate tissue in electrosurgical procedures. They are narrow forceps that feature 1x2 teeth to securely grasp the tissue, but also have a stop peg to prevent an overly harsh grasp that may crush the tissue. Sklar Blue electrosurgical instruments feature high quality stainless steel with an insulated coating. This safe coating prevents radio frequency currents from being transmitted through the instrument which reduces the burning of non-targeted tissue. Sklar Blue instruments are fully autoclavable and may also be cleaned ultrasonically. All Sklar Blue coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. Sklar Blue electrosurgical coatings are guaranteed for one year against manufacturing defects. This product is straight with 1x2 teeth and a length of 10 inches.

Frequently asked questions

How does the insulating coating protect patients during surgery?

The forceps feature a high-quality, non-conductive nylon coating. This insulation is critical for electrosurgical procedures as it prevents radio frequency (RF) currents from transmitting through the instrument, significantly minimizing the risk of accidental burns to adjacent, non-targeted tissue.

Will these forceps damage delicate tissue while grasping?

These instruments are specifically engineered to handle fine tissues safely. They include an integrated stop peg mechanism, which regulates the closing force to ensure a secure grip without crushing or causing undue trauma to the tissue.

Are these instruments suitable for repeated sterilization cycles?

Yes, they are designed for longevity and multiple uses. They are fully compatible with standard cleaning and sterilization protocols, including:

  • Ultrasonic cleaning
  • Steam sterilization (compliant with ANSI/AAMI ST79 standards)
Are these forceps manufactured without hazardous materials?

Absolutely. This product is guaranteed to be not made with natural rubber latex. Furthermore, it complies with stringent biological testing requirements, including ISO 10993 standards for cytotoxicity and sensitization.

Is the insulating coating durable enough for daily hospital use?

The Sklar Blue insulated coating is designed for professional medical environments. The manufacturing process includes a guarantee on the electrosurgical insulated coating for one year against any manufacturing defects.

Are these forceps compliant with government procurement regulations?

Yes, these Sklar Blue forceps are TAA compliant, meeting the necessary regulatory standards for government procurement and institutional use.

Is the construction robust enough for consistent surgical performance?

These forceps are built from high-quality stainless steel, ensuring durability and precision. Because they are designed for rigorous medical environments, they are backed by a lifetime warranty, reflecting the manufacturer’s confidence in their construction.

What kind of tissue engagement can I expect with these tips?

The forceps utilize a precise 1x2 teeth tip configuration. This design is specifically chosen to provide reliable tissue hold, ensuring the surgeon maintains control when manipulating fine or delicate structures during electrosurgery.

Are these instruments compatible with standard electrosurgical units?

Yes, they are specialized for integration with electrosurgical units. The insulated design makes them an essential tool for procedures that require both precise tissue manipulation and safety measures against RF current transmission.

How should the forceps be maintained to ensure long-term performance?

Proper maintenance is straightforward due to their durable construction. They should be cleaned using validated methods such as ultrasonic cleaning and can be sterilized using pre-vacuum or gravity cycle steam sterilization as outlined in ANSI/AAMI ST79 guidelines.
