Description

Sklar Blue Potts-Smith Dressing Forceps are most commonly used for application and changing of dressings in electrosurgical procedures. They may also be used for dissection of fine or single-layer tissue. Serrated tips provide a solid grip on both materials and tissue. Sklar Blue electrosurgical instruments feature high quality stainless steel with an insulated coating. This safe coating prevents radio frequency currents from being transmitted through the instrument which reduces the burning of non-targeted tissue. Sklar Blue instruments are fully autoclavable and may also be cleaned ultrasonically. All Sklar Blue coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. Sklar Blue electrosurgical coatings are guaranteed for one year against manufacturing defects. This product is straight with serrated tips and a length of 7 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the insulation effectively prevent RF current transfer?

Yes. These forceps feature a non-conductive nylon coating specifically designed to block radio frequency currents. This insulation is crucial for minimizing the risk of unintended tissue burns during electrosurgical procedures.

Are these forceps built for long-term surgical use?

Absolutely. They are constructed from high-quality stainless steel, ensuring the durability and precision required for reuse in professional surgical environments.

Can these instruments withstand rigorous sterilization cycles?

Yes, they are designed for easy maintenance. The forceps are fully autoclavable and are also compatible with ultrasonic cleaning methods, ensuring effective sterilization between uses.

Are the serrated tips effective for tissue handling?

The serrated working edge is specifically engineered to provide a solid, secure grip. This feature ensures you maintain precise control when manipulating dressings or delicate tissue layers.

Do these forceps meet recognized medical safety standards?

Yes, these instruments comply with stringent medical requirements, including:

  • ISO 10993: For biological testing such as cytotoxicity and sensitization.
  • ANSI/AAMI ST79: For sterilization validation protocols.
Are these suitable for fine tissue dissection tasks?

While primarily designed for the application and changing of dressings during electrosurgical procedures, they are also highly effective for fine or single-layer tissue dissection.

Is this instrument safe for latex-sensitive environments?

Yes. The Sklar Blue Electrosurgical Potts-Smith Forceps are not made with natural rubber latex, making them suitable for use in environments where latex sensitivity is a concern.

Does the handle design allow for precise control?

The forceps utilize a traditional thumb handle style, which is standard for ensuring stability and refined control during delicate surgical manipulation.

How durable is the protective insulated coating?

The specialized blue coating is engineered for surgical safety and reliability. To ensure product confidence, the coating is backed by a one-year guarantee against manufacturing defects.

Are these forceps TAA compliant for procurement?
