Description

The Sklar Blue Pederson Vaginal Speculum is used for electrosurgical gynecological procedures, such as LEEP. It is a double blade duckbill speculum inserted with the blades closed. The blades are then opened by an external lever and screw. The blades of the Pederson Speculum are more narrow than the blades of the Graves Speculum. The practitioner can best determine which type and size speculum is most appropriate for the patient. The Sklar Blue Graves Vaginal Speculum is available with a permanent smoke evacuation tube, a loop for disposable smoke evacuation tubing, or no smoke evacuation. Sklar Blue electrosurgical instruments feature high quality stainless steel with an insulated coating. This safe coating prevents radio frequency currents from being transmitted through the instrument which reduces the burning of non-targeted tissue. Sklar Blue instruments are fully autoclavable and may also be cleaned ultrasonically. All Sklar Blue coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. This product is a large sized speculum with 4 3/4" x 1" blades. It has a loop to hold and direct disposable smoke evacuation tubing.

Frequently asked questions

Does this speculum protect against accidental electrical burns?

Yes, this instrument is designed with patient safety in mind. It features a high-quality stainless steel core overlaid with a specialized non-conductive, insulated coating. This layer prevents RF current transmission, which is crucial for minimizing the risk of thermal injury to non-targeted tissue during electrosurgical procedures like LEEP.

Is the speculum compatible with smoke evacuation systems?

Absolutely. This specific model is equipped with an integrated loop attachment. This loop is designed to securely hold and guide disposable smoke evacuation tubing, helping to keep your workspace clear and efficient during procedures.

Can this instrument withstand rigorous sterilization processes?

Yes, the speculum is built for durability and repeated clinical use. It is fully autoclavable and compatible with ultrasonic cleaning methods, meeting the ANSI/AAMI ST79 validation standards for steam sterilization.

How does the Pederson blade profile compare to other styles?

The Pederson blade profile features narrower blades compared to the Graves style speculum. This design offers practitioners greater flexibility in selecting an instrument that provides the optimal anatomical fit and comfort for a wider range of patients.

Does this product meet high safety and regulatory standards?

Yes, patient safety is prioritized. This instrument complies with rigorous biological testing requirements, including:

  • Cytotoxicity and sensitization standards
