Description

The Sklar Blue Electrosurgical Graves Wide-View Vaginal Speculum is used for laser gynecological procedures, such as LEEP. It is a standard double blade duckbill speculum that features a wide proximal opening for instrumentation. It is inserted with the blades closed. The blades are then opened by an external lever and screw. The Graves Speculum has wider blades than the Pederson Speculum and the practitioner can best determine which type and size speculum is most appropriate for the patient. The Sklar Blue Electrosurgical Graves Vaginal Speculum is available with a permanent smoke evacuation tube, a loop for disposable smoke evacuation tubing, or no smoke evacuation. Sklar Blue electrosurgical instruments feature high quality stainless steel with an insulated coating. This safe coating prevents radio frequency currents from being transmitted through the instrument which reduces the burning of non-targeted tissue. Sklar Blue instruments are fully autoclavable and may also be cleaned ultrasonically. All Sklar Blue coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. This product is a medium sized speculum with 4" X 1-1/4" blades. It has a permanent smoke evacuation tube.

Frequently asked questions

Does the insulation effectively protect surrounding tissue during electrosurgery?

Yes. The speculum features a specialized Sklar Blue insulated coating. This non-conductive layer is designed to prevent radio frequency currents from transmitting through the instrument, which significantly minimizes the risk of burning non-targeted tissue during procedures.

Is this speculum suitable for LEEP procedures?

Absolutely. This instrument is specifically engineered for use in laser gynecological procedures, including LEEP. Its wide-view design and integrated safety features make it an ideal choice for these types of electrosurgical interventions.

Does it include a way to manage surgical smoke?

Yes, this specific model comes equipped with a permanent smoke evacuation tube. This feature is integrated directly into the instrument to help maintain a clear field of view and cleaner surgical environment.

Is this instrument durable enough for frequent sterilization?

Yes, it is built for rigorous clinical environments. It is constructed from high-quality stainless steel and is fully autoclavable. It also supports ultrasonic cleaning, ensuring it stands up well to repeated, heavy-duty sterilization cycles.

Does the speculum meet required safety and sterilization standards?

Yes, it complies with stringent medical standards:

Biological Testing: Adheres to ISO 10993 requirements for cytotoxicity and sensitization.

Sterilization: Validated for Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization per ANSI/AAMI ST79.

How does the opening mechanism function for ease of use?

The speculum uses a reliable external lever and screw mechanism to control the blade opening. This design allows for smooth, controlled expansion and stability during examination and procedures.

Is this product made with latex?

No, this instrument is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safer option for patients with latex sensitivities.

How wide is the view provided by this Graves design?

This is a medium-sized Graves speculum with a wide proximal opening. The blades measure 4 inches by 1-1/4 inches, which is specifically designed to facilitate better access and instrumentation during gynecological procedures.
