Description

Sklar Blue Bozeman Forceps are a multi-functional instrument commonly used in gynecological procedures. They are used for tissue removal in dilation and curettage procedures, intrauterine device retrieval, and packing the uterine cavity. The shanks of this instrument are slightly curved and therefore provide greater visibility when used in the uterine cavity. The jaws are available either curved or straight. Sklar Blue electrosurgical instruments feature high quality stainless steel with an insulated coating. This safe coating prevents radio frequency currents from being transmitted through the instrument which reduces the burning of non-targeted tissue. Sklar Blue instruments are fully autoclavable and may also be cleaned ultrasonically. All Sklar Blue coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. Sklar Blue electrosurgical coatings are guaranteed for one year against manufacturing defects. This product features an "S" curve (slightly curved shanks with jaws slightly curved opposite direction) with partial horizontal serrations and a length of 10-1/4 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the blue coating improve electrosurgical safety?

Yes. The Sklar Blue coating is a specialized, non-conductive insulation layer engineered to isolate the instrument. It is specifically designed to prevent the accidental transmission of radio frequency currents to adjacent tissues, significantly reducing the risk of thermal injury during electrosurgical procedures.

Is the 'S'-curve design helpful for better visibility?

Absolutely. The unique ‘S’-curved geometry—where the shanks and jaws curve in opposite directions—is specifically crafted to provide a superior line of sight. This design significantly improves visualization within confined spaces, such as the uterine cavity, compared to straight-shanked instruments.

Is this made from durable, high-grade stainless steel?

Yes, these forceps are constructed from high-quality stainless steel. This durable material is selected for its ability to withstand the rigors of surgical environments, ensuring long-term reliability and performance in clinical settings.

Are these forceps easy to sterilize between uses?

They are fully compatible with standard sterilization protocols. The instruments can be safely cleaned using ultrasonic cleaning and are fully compatible with steam autoclaving. They comply with the stringent ANSI/AAMI ST79 steam sterilization validation standards.

Do the jaws provide a secure grip on tissue?

Yes, the jaws are designed with partial horizontal serrations. This textured surface is intended to provide a reliable, non-slip grip, allowing for precise and controlled manipulation of delicate tissues during procedures.

Is this product safe for latex-sensitive patients?

Yes. The Sklar Blue Bozeman Uterine Dressing Forceps are not made with natural rubber latex. This makes them a suitable and safe option for use in clinical environments where latex-free equipment is required.

Does this tool meet recognized medical compliance standards?

This instrument adheres to several key industry benchmarks:

  • TAA Compliant: Meets Trade Agreements Act standards.
  • ISO 10993: Complies with critical biological safety testing, including cytotoxicity and sensitization.
  • ANSI/AAMI ST79: Meets professional sterilization validation requirements.
Is this suitable for dilation and curettage procedures?

Yes, it is a versatile instrument essential for gynecological settings. It is specifically optimized for:

  • Dilation and Curettage (D&C): For precise tissue removal.
  • IUD Retrieval: Offering reliable access and handling.
  • Uterine Packing: Designed to facilitate effective packing of the uterine cavity.
