Description

Sklar Black Thumb Tissue Forceps are used for grasping, holding, and manipulating various types of tissues in laser procedures. These instruments have spring tension shanks that ultimately determine how far the instrument will open and the thickness of the tissue that can be held. Some thumb tissue forceps have lesser tension and can only hold fine membranes or single layer tissue. Others have greater tension and can hold thick, heavy tissue. Thumb tissue forceps are commonly toothed in order to grip the tissue more firmly than serrated tips alone. They are available in several lengths to accommodate specific procedures, tissue types, and user preference. Sklar Black Laser instruments feature a non-reflective black polymer coating applied over the sandblasted instrument developed specifically for laser surgeries. This safe, durable coating reduces laser reflection to less than one-tenth of a percent, ensuring a safer surgical environment for patients and surgical staff. All Sklar Black coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. Sklar Black laser coatings are guaranteed for one year against manufacturing defects. This product is straight with 1x2 teeth, and a length of 5-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the black coating really help with laser safety?

Yes, it is highly effective. The forceps are crafted from sandblasted stainless steel and finished with a proprietary non-reflective black polymer coating. This specialized surface reduces laser reflection to less than 0.1%, significantly enhancing safety for both the surgical team and the patient.

Are these forceps designed for a secure tissue grip?

Absolutely. These forceps feature a 1x2 teeth tip configuration. This design provides a significantly firmer and more reliable grasp on tissue compared to standard serrated-only tips, ensuring precision during manipulation.

Can these instruments be safely steam sterilized?

Yes. These forceps are fully validated for use with standard hospital sterilization protocols. They comply with ANSI/AAMI ST79 standards for both Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle steam sterilization, making them suitable for repeated clinical use.

Are these forceps safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, you can use them with confidence. These surgical instruments are not made with natural rubber latex, ensuring they are suitable for use in environments where latex sensitivities are a concern.

Is the material quality reliable for surgical use?

The forceps are built for professional standards. They are manufactured from durable stainless steel and carry a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, reflecting a commitment to high-quality surgical construction.

Are these tools compliant with medical testing regulations?

Yes. Beyond their structural integrity, these forceps comply with ISO 10993 biological testing requirements, ensuring they meet critical standards for cytotoxicity and sensitization for surgical instrumentation.

How does the thumb handle design perform during procedures?

The thumb handle style is specifically engineered for tactile control. The spring tension in the shanks allows the user to intuitively adjust their grip based on the density and delicacy of the tissue being manipulated, offering excellent manual feedback.

Are these forceps suitable for specialized laser procedures?

Yes, they are specifically engineered for that purpose. By combining a 5-1/2 inch length with a straight curvature and a non-reflective finish, they provide the necessary reach and safety profile for precise grasping during various laser surgical applications.

Do these meet TAA compliance standards?

Yes, this instrument is TAA compliant. This certification verifies that the product meets the stringent sourcing and manufacturing requirements necessary for government-related or public sector healthcare procurement.

Are these forceps supplied in a sterile state?

No, they are supplied non-sterile. They arrive ready for your facility’s standard cleaning and sterilization process prior to their first use in a surgical setting.
