Description

The Sklar Black Pederson Vaginal Speculum is used for laser gynecological procedures. It is a double blade duckbill speculum inserted with the blades closed. The blades are then opened by an external lever and screw. The blades of the Pederson Speculum are more narrow than the blades of the Graves Speculum. The practitioner can best determine which type and size speculum is most appropriate for the patient. The Sklar Black Pederson Vaginal Speculum is available with a permanent smoke evacuation tube, a loop for disposable smoke evacuation tubing, or no smoke evacuation. Sklar Black Laser instruments feature a non-reflective black polymer coating applied over the sandblasted instrument developed specifically for laser surgeries. This safe, durable coating reduces laser reflection to less than one-tenth of a percent, ensuring a safer surgical environment for patients and surgical staff. All Sklar Black coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. This product is a slender speculum with 4" x 5/8" blades. It has a permanent smoke evacuation tube.

Frequently asked questions

Does the coating provide superior laser protection?

Yes, this instrument features a specialized non-reflective black polymer coating applied over a sandblasted stainless steel body. This design is engineered to reduce laser reflection to less than one-tenth of one percent, significantly enhancing surgical safety for both patients and staff.

Is the slender profile suitable for delicate procedures?

Absolutely. This speculum utilizes the Pederson blade configuration, which is narrower than the standard Graves style. With blade dimensions of 4 inches in length and 5/8 inches in width, it offers practitioners greater discretion and maneuverability for specific gynecological applications.

Does this feature an integrated smoke evacuation system?

Yes, this model comes equipped with a permanent smoke evacuation tube. This integrated design allows for efficient plume management directly during laser procedures, keeping your surgical field clear.

Is this instrument compatible with standard hospital sterilization cycles?

Yes. It is fully compliant with ANSI/AAMI ST79 standards. It is validated for both Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle steam sterilization, ensuring it can be safely and repeatedly processed in a clinical environment.

How is the blade opening controlled during use?

The speculum is designed for precision, featuring an external lever and screw mechanism. This allows the clinician to smoothly and securely adjust the blade aperture after insertion.

Does this meet rigorous biocompatibility standards?

Yes, the instrument is built to adhere to high safety standards. It satisfies biological testing requirements, including ISO 10993 (for cytotoxicity and sensitization), ensuring patient safety during use.

Is this device safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, this product is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a suitable choice for procedures involving patients with latex sensitivities.

What material is used for the core construction?

The core of the speculum is crafted from durable stainless steel. This provides a robust, long-lasting instrument capable of withstanding repeated use while supporting the advanced laser-safe coating.

Is this speculum intended for single or repeated use?

This is a reusable instrument. It is engineered for long-term value, constructed from high-quality stainless steel specifically intended to be cleaned and sterilized between patient procedures.

Are these blades specifically designed for laser gynecology?

Yes. The combination of the black polymer coating (to minimize backscatter) and the permanent smoke evacuation tube makes this instrument specifically optimized for high-tech laser gynecological interventions.
