Description

The Sklar Black Pederson Vaginal Speculum is used for laser gynecological procedures. It is a double blade duckbill speculum inserted with the blades closed. The blades are then opened by an external lever and screw. The blades of the Pederson Speculum are more narrow than the blades of the Graves Speculum. The practitioner can best determine which type and size speculum is most appropriate for the patient. The Sklar Black Pederson Vaginal Speculum is available with a permanent smoke evacuation tube, a loop for disposable smoke evacuation tubing, or no smoke evacuation. Sklar Black Laser instruments feature a non-reflective black polymer coating applied over the sandblasted instrument developed specifically for laser surgeries. This safe, durable coating reduces laser reflection to less than one-tenth of a percent, ensuring a safer surgical environment for patients and surgical staff. All Sklar Black coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. This product is a large speculum with 4 3/4" x 1" blades. It has a permanent smoke evacuation tube.

Frequently asked questions

Is the laser-safe coating highly effective?

Yes, it is designed for maximum safety. The specialized non-reflective black polymer coating is engineered to reduce laser reflection to less than one-tenth of a percent, which minimizes backscatter and helps protect both the patient and the surgical staff.

Why choose the Pederson style for procedures?

The Pederson design features narrower, double blades compared to the Graves speculum. This allows practitioners to select the most appropriate and comfortable fit for the patient, providing greater flexibility during examinations.

Is the smoke evacuation mechanism reliable?

Yes. This model is equipped with a permanent, integrated smoke evacuation tube. It is specifically built into the instrument to allow for the immediate and efficient management of surgical plume during laser gynecological procedures.

Is this speculum durable for repeated clinical use?

Absolutely. Constructed from high-quality stainless steel and finished with a specialized polymer coating, this instrument is designed for durability and is fully reusable in professional clinical and operating room environments.

Is the instrument compatible with steam sterilization?

Yes. The speculum is validated for both Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle steam sterilization. It fully complies with ANSI/AAMI ST79 standards, ensuring that it meets rigorous hospital hygiene and sterilization requirements.

Does it meet high patient safety and biocompatibility standards?

Yes. This instrument adheres to strict biological safety standards, including compliance with ISO 10993, which covers critical testing requirements for cytotoxicity and sensitization.

Is this product made with natural rubber latex?

No. This instrument is not made with natural rubber latex, which makes it a suitable choice for patients and clinicians with latex sensitivities.

What are the dimensions for this Large model?

This Large size model features blades measuring 4 3/4 inches by 1 inch, designed with a standard curvature to facilitate effective use in gynecological settings.

Is it suitable for high-precision laser procedures?

It is engineered specifically for such tasks. By combining a non-reflective black polymer finish, an integrated smoke evacuation system, and a robust mechanical design, it is ideal for laser energy utilization in surgical or clinical procedures.

Is this instrument fully compliant with medical regulations?

Yes. Beyond its specialized laser features, the instrument is TAA compliant and satisfies comprehensive regulatory standards for material biocompatibility and validated sterilization procedures.
