Description

The Sklar Black Graves Vaginal Speculum is used for laser gynecological procedures. It is a double blade duckbill speculum inserted with the blades closed. The blades are then opened by an external lever and screw. The Graves Speculum has wider blades than the Pederson Speculum and the practitioner can best determine which type and size speculum is most appropriate for the patient. The Sklar Black Graves Vaginal Speculum is available with a permanent smoke evacuation tube, a loop for disposable smoke evacuation tubing, or no smoke evacuation. Sklar Black Laser instruments feature a non-reflective black polymer coating applied over the sandblasted instrument developed specifically for laser surgeries. This safe, durable coating reduces laser reflection to less than one-tenth of a percent, ensuring a safer surgical environment for patients and surgical staff. All Sklar Black coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. This product is a small speculum with 3" X 3/4" blades. It does not have a smoke evacuation tube.

Frequently asked questions

Is this speculum designed specifically for laser surgery?

Yes, this instrument is engineered specifically for laser gynecological procedures. Its standout feature is a non-reflective black polymer coating applied over sandblasted stainless steel. This specialized coating is crucial for safety, as it reduces laser reflection to less than 0.1%.

How does the Graves style benefit patient visualization?

The Graves style is characterized by its double blade duckbill configuration with wider blades compared to other styles like the Pederson. This wider blade design is intended to provide practitioners with improved visualization and better maneuverability during examinations or procedures.

Is this instrument safe for reuse?

Absolutely. This speculum is constructed from durable, high-quality stainless steel intended for long-term, repeated use. It is fully compatible with standard sterilization protocols, specifically meeting ANSI/AAMI ST79 steam sterilization validation standards.

Does this model include smoke evacuation attachments?

No, this specific configuration comes without a smoke evacuation tube or loops. It is a streamlined design focused purely on visualization and laser safety, making it a great choice if you do not require integrated smoke management features.

Does the black coating contain latex?

No, this instrument is not made with natural rubber latex. It uses a specialized black polymer coating applied directly over the stainless steel to ensure a safe, non-reflective surgical environment.

What are the dimensions of this small-sized blade?

This small-size variant features blades that measure 3 inches in length by 3/4 inch in width. This profile is specifically designed for patients who require a smaller instrument for comfort and accessibility.

Has this device passed strict biological safety standards?

Yes, the instrument complies with rigorous ISO 10993 biological testing requirements. This includes testing for cytotoxicity and sensitization, ensuring it meets high clinical standards for patient safety.

How do you adjust the blade opening during a procedure?

This speculum utilizes a user-friendly external lever and screw mechanism. This allows the practitioner to precisely control the opening of the blades once the instrument is inserted, ensuring steady and reliable positioning throughout the procedure.

Is the non-reflective coating durable for daily clinical use?

Yes, the non-reflective black polymer is applied over sandblasted stainless steel, designed to withstand the demands of a clinical environment. Because it is a professional-grade Sklar instrument, it is built to be a durable, reusable tool that maintains its functional integrity over time.

Are these instruments TAA compliant?

Yes, this product is TAA compliant. This ensures it meets the necessary standards for government procurement and medical facilities that require trade agreement compliance.
