Description

The Sklar Black Graves Vaginal Speculum is used for laser gynecological procedures. It is a double blade duckbill speculum inserted with the blades closed. The blades are then opened by an external lever and screw. The Graves Speculum has wider blades than the Pederson Speculum and the practitioner can best determine which type and size speculum is most appropriate for the patient. The Sklar Black Graves Vaginal Speculum is available with a permanent smoke evacuation tube, a loop for disposable smoke evacuation tubing, or no smoke evacuation. Sklar Black Laser instruments feature a non-reflective black polymer coating applied over the sandblasted instrument developed specifically for laser surgeries. This safe, durable coating reduces laser reflection to less than one-tenth of a percent, ensuring a safer surgical environment for patients and surgical staff. All Sklar Black coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. This product is a small speculum with 3" X 3/4" blades. It has a permanent smoke evacuation tube.

Frequently asked questions

Does the coating effectively minimize laser reflection?

Yes, this speculum features a specialized Sklar Black non-reflective polymer coating applied over sandblasted stainless steel. This advanced design reduces laser reflection to less than one-tenth of one percent, significantly enhancing safety for both patients and surgical staff during laser procedures.

Is this model suitable for surgical plume management?

Absolutely. This specific model includes a permanently attached smoke evacuation tube designed to manage surgical plume effectively throughout laser procedures, ensuring a clearer field of vision and a safer environment.

How does the Graves blade design benefit the practitioner?

The Graves configuration utilizes wider blades compared to Pederson models. This design allows for:

Improved visualization of the surgical site.

Better anatomical exposure.

Greater ease in determining the appropriate size for the patient.

Does this instrument meet medical regulatory requirements?

Yes, the Sklar Black Laser Graves Vaginal Speculum meets rigorous safety standards, including:

Compliance with ISO 10993 biological testing (cytotoxicity and sensitization).

Validation for steam sterilization per ANSI/AAMI ST79.

TAA compliance.

Is the material safe for patients with allergies?

Yes, this instrument is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safer option for patients with latex sensitivities.

What is the correct method for cleaning and sterilization?

This is a reusable instrument designed to withstand repeated cleaning. It is validated for steam sterilization procedures in accordance with ANSI/AAMI ST79 (pre-vacuum and gravity cycle steam sterilization).

How do you adjust the blade opening during use?

The speculum is inserted in the closed position. Once positioned, you can control the opening of the double blades using the external lever and screw mechanism located on the handle, allowing for precise, adjustable exposure.

Is this durable enough for long-term clinical use?

Yes, the instrument is crafted from high-quality stainless steel and is engineered for professional clinical environments. It is a factory-new, reusable device built to maintain its integrity under standard medical sterilization protocols.

What are the specific dimensions of the small blade?

The blades on this small-sized speculum measure 3 inches in length by 3/4 inches in width, providing a precise fit for appropriate patient requirements.

Is this speculum intended only for laser surgeries?

While it is specifically developed for laser gynecological procedures where plume management and reflection control are critical, its high-quality construction makes it a reliable tool for any gynecological exam requiring the Graves-style configuration.
