Description

The Sklar Black Graves Vaginal Speculum is used for laser gynecological procedures. It is a double blade duckbill speculum inserted with the blades closed. The blades are then opened by an external lever and screw. The Graves Speculum has wider blades than the Pederson Speculum and the practitioner can best determine which type and size speculum is most appropriate for the patient. The Sklar Black Graves Vaginal Speculum is available with a permanent smoke evacuation tube, a loop for disposable smoke evacuation tubing, or no smoke evacuation. Sklar Black Laser instruments feature a non-reflective black polymer coating applied over the sandblasted instrument developed specifically for laser surgeries. This safe, durable coating reduces laser reflection to less than one-tenth of a percent, ensuring a safer surgical environment for patients and surgical staff. All Sklar Black coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. This product is a medium speculum with 4" X 1-1/4" blades. It does not have a smoke evacuation tube.

Frequently asked questions

How effectively does the coating minimize laser reflection?

This speculum features a specialized, non-reflective black polymer coating applied over a sandblasted stainless steel body. This design reduces laser reflection to less than one-tenth of one percent, significantly enhancing safety for both the patient and the surgical staff during laser procedures.

Why is the Graves-style design preferred for procedures?

The Graves-style design is highly regarded for its wider blades compared to the Pederson style. This design offers the practitioner superior tissue retraction and optimal visualization, making it an excellent choice for complex gynecological procedures.

Is this instrument durable enough for frequent re-use?

Yes, this instrument is built for longevity. It is constructed from a robust stainless steel core beneath its specialized coating, engineered to withstand the rigors of repeated surgical use and cleaning cycles.

Does this speculum meet standard sterilization protocols?

Absolutely. The instrument complies with ANSI/AAMI ST79 validation standards, making it fully compatible with both Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle steam sterilization protocols.

Is this safe for patients with material sensitivities?

Patient safety is a priority. The device is not made with natural rubber latex, making it suitable for patients with latex sensitivities. Additionally, the instrument complies with ISO 10993 requirements for biological testing, including cytotoxicity and sensitization.

How is the non-reflective coating applied to ensure quality?

The non-reflective black polymer is applied over a sandblasted stainless steel foundation. This dual-layer approach ensures the coating is durable enough to hold up through multiple sterilization cycles without compromising its laser-absorbing properties.

Does this specific model include smoke evacuation?

This model is configured without a smoke evacuation tube or loops. It is designed specifically for standard laser gynecological procedures where external or integrated evacuation apparatus is not required.

Is this device suitable for high-precision surgical environments?

Yes, it is designed for environments where precision is paramount. The TAA-compliant construction and specialized anti-reflective surface make it a reliable choice for professional surgical settings requiring strict adherence to safety standards.

What are the dimensions of this medium-sized speculum?

This medium-sized speculum features a blade dimension of 4 inches by 1-1/4 inches, providing a standard, effective fit for adult patients while maintaining the control and visualization benefits of the Graves style.

Is the hinge mechanism reliable for daily use?

The instrument is designed with a standard external lever and screw mechanism for precise blade adjustment. Its robust stainless steel construction ensures smooth operation and consistent control throughout the duration of the procedure.
