Description

The Sklar Black Graves Vaginal Speculum is used for laser gynecological procedures. It is a double blade duckbill speculum inserted with the blades closed. The blades are then opened by an external lever and screw. The Graves Speculum has wider blades than the Pederson Speculum and the practitioner can best determine which type and size speculum is most appropriate for the patient. The Sklar Black Graves Vaginal Speculum is available with a permanent smoke evacuation tube, a loop for disposable smoke evacuation tubing, or no smoke evacuation. Sklar Black Laser instruments feature a non-reflective black polymer coating applied over the sandblasted instrument developed specifically for laser surgeries. This safe, durable coating reduces laser reflection to less than one-tenth of a percent, ensuring a safer surgical environment for patients and surgical staff. All Sklar Black coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. This product is an extra large speculum with 4-3/4" X 1-1/2" blades. It has a loop to hold and direct disposable smoke evacuation tubing.

Frequently asked questions

Is this safe for laser-assisted gynecological procedures?

Yes, this speculum is specifically engineered for laser surgery. It features a non-reflective black polymer coating that reduces laser reflection to less than 0.1%, significantly enhancing safety for both patients and medical staff.

Can this speculum withstand repeated steam sterilization?

Absolutely. This instrument is built for clinical durability and is fully compliant with ANSI/AAMI ST79 steam sterilization validation standards for both pre-vacuum and gravity cycles.

Does this model feature integrated smoke evacuation capabilities?

Yes, this specific configuration includes a built-in loop designed to hold and direct disposable smoke evacuation tubing, ensuring a clear and safe surgical field.

Is the material safe for patients with sensitivities?

Yes, the device is not made with natural rubber latex. Furthermore, it complies with strict ISO 10993 biological testing requirements, ensuring biocompatibility regarding cytotoxicity and sensitization.

Why is the Graves design ideal for surgical procedures?

The Graves design is characterized by wider, duckbill-style blades compared to other models like the Pederson. This extra width is essential for achieving superior visualization and field exposure during complex surgical tasks.

What materials are used in this instrument's construction?

It is crafted from high-grade stainless steel with a sandblasted base, overlaid with a durable, non-reflective black polymer coating for precision and safety.

How do you adjust the blade opening?

The speculum is operated via a reliable external lever and screw mechanism. This allows the clinician to smoothly and securely adjust the blade aperture to the desired position.

Is this the correct size for wider surgical exposure?

Yes, this is an Extra Large speculum with blade dimensions of 4-3/4” in length by 1-1/2” in width, providing the necessary reach and opening for procedures requiring a wider field of view.

Is this a reusable surgical instrument?

Yes, this is a reusable instrument designed for repeated use in clinical settings. Its robust stainless steel construction ensures it holds up well to the rigors of surgical environments.

Is this product TAA compliant?
