Description

Sklar Black Gerald Tissue Forceps are a light to intermediate weight instrument with very narrow tips specifically used to handle delicate tissue during laser surgery. They are often used in cardiothoracic procedures. They feature 1 X 2 teeth to securely grasp the tissue, but also have a stop peg to prevent an overly harsh grasp that may crush the tissue. Sklar Black Laser instruments feature a non-reflective black polymer coating applied over the sandblasted instrument developed specifically for laser surgeries. This safe, durable coating reduces laser reflection to less than one-tenth of a percent, ensuring a safer surgical environment for patients and surgical staff. All Sklar Black coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. Sklar Black laser coatings are guaranteed for one year against manufacturing defects. This product is straight with serrated tips, 1 X 2 teeth, and a length of 7 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the coating effectively reduce laser reflection?

Yes, this instrument features a specialized non-reflective black polymer coating. It reduces laser reflection to less than one-tenth of one percent, significantly enhancing safety during laser-based surgical procedures.

Can these forceps handle delicate tissue safely?

Absolutely. These forceps are specifically designed for delicate handling in procedures like cardiothoracic surgery. They include a built-in stop peg mechanism alongside the 1x2 teeth to ensure secure grasping without the risk of crushing or damaging the tissue.

Is the material biocompatible for surgical use?

Yes, Sklar Black instruments meet rigorous biological testing requirements. They are fully compliant with:

  • ISO 10993 standards
  • Cytotoxicity and sensitization regulatory compliance
  • Latex-free manufacturing protocols
What sterilization methods are compatible with this tool?

These forceps are validated for reuse. They are compliant with standard steam sterilization protocols, specifically:

  • Pre-Vacuum Steam Sterilization
  • Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization
    (Aligned with ANSI/AAMI ST79 guidelines)
How durable is the specialized black coating?

The high-precision polymer coating is designed for durability in demanding clinical environments. Sklar guarantees the specialized coating for one year against manufacturing defects, while the surgical instrument itself is backed by a lifetime warranty.

Are these suitable for high-precision surgical environments?

Yes. These Gerald Tissue Forceps are precision-engineered for delicate surgical tasks. Their light-to-intermediate weight class and narrow, straight tip configuration make them ideal for the nuanced demands of cardiothoracic and laser-assisted surgeries.

Does this tool come ready for immediate use?

Please note that the instrument is shipped non-sterile. Before use in any surgical environment, it must undergo proper sterilization procedures consistent with the ANSI/AAMI ST79 guidelines.

Is the instrument construction high quality?

The instrument is constructed from high-grade stainless steel with a sandblasted base, ensuring a sturdy foundation. This is then overlaid with the specialized non-reflective polymer coating to combine structural integrity with advanced functional safety.

Is this product TAA compliant?

Yes, this instrument is fully TAA compliant, making it suitable for procurement in environments that require adherence to the Trade Agreements Act.

Does the design prevent accidental tissue damage?

The design prioritizes patient safety. Beyond the specialized tips, the integrated stop peg acts as a physical safeguard, preventing the user from applying excessive force and crushing tissue during the grasping process.
