Frequently asked questions

Does the speculum feature high-quality, durable construction?

Yes, this instrument is manufactured from high-quality stainless steel, which is designed for long-term clinical durability and repeated reusability in demanding surgical environments.

Is this model suitable for complex gynecological procedures?

Absolutely. The Berlind-Auvard design is specifically engineered for OB/GYN procedures that require a clear, consistent operative field, such as:

Vaginal hysterectomies

Dilation and curettage (D&C)

How does the weight assist during surgery?

The 2.5-pound medium weight is a critical feature that automatically stabilizes the instrument once positioned. This allows the speculum to hold its place securely, facilitating an unobstructed view and helping to maintain an open operative field without constant manual adjustment.

What makes the blade design unique for surgeons?

Unlike standard Auvard models, this version features a specific right-angled, long, and narrow blade geometry. It measures 4-1/4 inches in length by 1-5/8 inches in width, providing specialized access and superior exposure for specific surgical applications.

Is the material safe for patients with sensitivities?

Yes, the instrument is explicitly not made with natural rubber latex, ensuring it is completely latex-free for patient safety.

Does this product meet professional compliance standards?

Yes, this speculum is fully TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliant, making it suitable for inventories that require adherence to strict governmental or institutional procurement standards.

Does it come ready for immediate surgical use?

The instrument is supplied as non-sterile. Facilities must follow standard internal protocols for cleaning, sterilization, and preparation before the instrument is used in any clinical procedure.

What is the benefit of the CensiTrac marking?

The CensiTrac marking identifies this as part of a high-grade surgical inventory system, allowing for better asset management and tracking within busy clinical and surgical settings.

Is this a single-operator instrument?

Yes, because of its integrated weighted design, this speculum is designed to facilitate single-operator use. It remains securely in place on its own, which can improve workflow during tasks that require consistent retraction.

Is there a long-term guarantee on this instrument?

Yes, this instrument is backed by a lifetime warranty, reflecting the manufacturer’s confidence in the build quality and the longevity of the materials used.
