Description

Sklar's Merit Sterile thumb tissue forceps are used for grasping, holding, and manipulating various types of tissues in multiple procedures. These instruments have spring tension shanks that ultimately determine how far the instrument will open and the thickness of the tissue that can be held - less tension for single layer tissue, greater tension for heavy tissue. Thumb tissue forceps are commonly toothed in order to grip the tissue more firmly than serrated tips alone. They are available in several lengths to accommodate specific procedures, tissue types, and user preference. Merit Sterile instruments are ready-to-use, sterile, disposable, office-grade instruments sold in bulk quantities for routine and in-office minor procedures.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 1x2 tooth design offer better grip?

Yes, the 1x2 teeth are specifically engineered to provide superior traction compared to standard serrated tips. This design ensures a firm and reliable grasp, making it ideal for procedures where stability and secure tissue manipulation are paramount.

Is the material safe for those with allergies?

Absolutely. These forceps are latex-free and are not made with natural rubber latex, ensuring they are safe for use on patients with latex sensitivities.

Are these forceps reliable for precise procedures?

Yes, these are physician-grade instruments crafted from high-quality stainless steel. They feature spring-tension shanks that allow for delicate, precise control, whether you are handling thin, single-layer tissue or thicker structures.

Does the design prevent slipping during use?

Yes, the handles are designed with fine, horizontal serrations on the shanks. This textured grip provides a secure, non-slip surface for your fingers during surgical procedures.

Do these forceps help save time in clinic?

They significantly improve clinical efficiency by being sterile and disposable. Because they are ready-to-use right out of the packaging, they completely eliminate the time and costs associated with sterilization and reprocessing.

How does the spring tension assist in performance?

The optimized spring tension determines the instrument’s opening range and the force applied. This allows the user to exert consistent pressure, providing the necessary feedback to manipulate varying tissue thicknesses with confidence.

Are these suitable for minor in-office surgery?

Yes, they are specifically designed for routine and in-office minor surgical procedures. Their compact 5-inch, straight design makes them an essential tool for high-paced clinical environments requiring high precision.

Is the finish designed to reduce eye strain?

Yes, the forceps feature a matte, metallic finish. This specific treatment is designed to minimize glare under bright surgical lighting, helping to maintain visual focus during delicate procedures.
