Description

Merit Sterile Spencer Stitch Scissors are primarily used for suture removal. These scissors have a small hook shaped tip on one blade that slides under sutures to slightly lift them before cutting for removal. This hook also holds the suture so it does not slip off the blade of the scissors prior to cutting. They are most commonly available in lengths of 3-1/2" and 4-1/2" and therefore typically have smaller, more delicate tips that are used for removing smaller sutures. They should not be used for cutting tissue. Merit Sterile instruments are ready-to-use, sterile, disposable, office-grade instruments sold in bulk quantities.

Frequently asked questions

Does the hooked tip simplify the suture removal process?

Yes, these scissors feature a specialized hook tip designed to slide securely under sutures. This configuration provides the necessary leverage to lift the suture and effectively prevents it from slipping off the cutting edge, ensuring a precise and stress-free removal process.

Is the material safe for patients with latex allergies?

Absolutely. These scissors are completely latex-free, as they are not manufactured using any natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for all patients.

Are these scissors suitable for precision work?

Yes, they are designed with physician-grade quality and a 4-1/2 inch length, which is specifically optimized for handling smaller, more delicate sutures with high precision and control.

Can these be used to cut surgical tissue?

No, these scissors are strictly intended for suture removal only. They are engineered with a specific hook mechanism that is not suitable for cutting or debriding tissue.

How are these instruments prepared for immediate clinical use?

Each pair arrives sterile and ready-to-use directly from the packaging. This disposable, office-grade design eliminates the need for any time-consuming cleaning or reprocessing, ensuring a sterile application every time.

Are they comfortable to hold during repeated use?

Yes, the instruments feature traditional finger rings that offer an ergonomic grip, allowing for stable handling and excellent control during delicate cutting procedures.

Is the construction durable despite being disposable?

While intended for single use to ensure sterility, they are crafted from high-quality stainless steel. This provides the structural integrity and sharp performance required for professional clinical environments.

Are these scissors appropriate for ambulatory surgery centers?

Yes, they are ideal for clinical settings, physician offices, and ambulatory surgery centers where sterile, reliable, and convenient instruments are required for daily patient care.

Is the bulk packaging convenient for busy clinics?

The product is sold in case quantities of 50 (CS 50). This bulk availability offers excellent value and ensures that busy clinical offices always have a high-quality, sterile instrument on hand when needed.
