Description

Merit Littauer cutting forceps are non-ratcheted, plier handle instrument used primarily for cutting or debrieding nail and bone - including bones found in the facial and nasal region, or small animal (mice) veterinary procedures. The short, sharp blades are able to produce enough force to cut through thick nail and small bone, but delicate enough not to cause trauma to surrounding tissue or organs. This is particularly helpful with nail debridement which should be completed in short, small sections to avoid damage to the hyponychium. The Merit line of instruments are an economical office grade used in routine in-office procedures. This product is straight with smooth edges, and is available in four different lengths.

Can these be used for small animal veterinary procedures?

Yes, these are highly suitable for small animal veterinary procedures, such as those involving mice, due to their precision and controlled cutting capability.

Is the stainless steel material durable for repeated use?

Yes, they are constructed from high-quality, durable stainless steel. They are designed as a reusable instrument, meaning they are built to withstand repeated reprocessing and sterilization cycles in an office setting.

Is the design suitable for delicate nasal bone procedures?

Yes, the instrument is engineered for precision tasks, including facial and nasal bone manipulation, where its sharp tips and controlled leverage allow for accurate work in confined areas.

Does this tool contain any natural rubber latex?

No, this product is 100% latex-free, ensuring it is safe for use with patients or practitioners who have natural rubber latex sensitivities.

Are these forceps sterile upon arrival?

The forceps are supplied non-sterile. They are intended to be reprocessed and sterilized according to your facility’s protocols before their first use and between subsequent procedures.

How do the smooth working edges help during procedures?

The smooth edge style is specifically designed to allow for clean, precise cuts. When performing tasks like nail debridement, this feature helps in making small, controlled sections to avoid damaging the hyponychium or adjacent delicate areas.

Is this model easy to handle during precision tasks?
