Description

Precise, clear, legible; provides 20/800 distance equivalent testing at 14". Plastic, 3 and one half" x 6 3/8". The back of the card features a millimeter scale and an inch scale. Pocket Vision Screener Instructions Visual acuity (Va) can be assessed by using the Pocket Vision Screener (not to be confused with the larger Snellen eye chart). The Pocket Vision Screener gives a distance equivalent Va even though the card is held 14" from the patient. Va testing is done in the following manner: 1) Have the patient wear their corrective lenses (if any), make sure the card is evenly illuminated, and instruct the patient to hold the test card 14" away from their eyes. Corrective lenses are worn in order to determine the "best-corrected" Va. 2) Ask the patient to cover their left eye (the right eye is always examined first). 3) Ask the patient to say each letter or read each word on the line of smallest characters that are legible on the card. 4) Record the Va for the right eye according to the accepted notation method. 5) Repeat the process for the left eye and then with both eyes viewing the test card and record the Va. 6) Patient's who cannot see the letters or numbers on the card should have their vision recorded as count fingers (e.g., CF at 5ft), hand motion (e.g., HM at 2 ft), light perception (LP), or no light perception (NLP).

Frequently asked questions

What is the testing distance recommended when using the Rosenbaum Pocket Vision Screener Card?

The recommended testing distance is 14 inches from the patient’s eyes.

How does this eye chart simulate distance vision?

The Graham-Field Rosenbaum Pocket Vision Screener Card is engineered to provide distance equivalent visual acuity (Va) readings in a highly portable format, simulating results typically achieved with a full Snellen chart.

Key features of how it functions:

  • Near-Vision Distance Equivalence: The card allows for accurate distance equivalent Va results (e.g., 20/20) while being held precisely 14 inches away from the patient’s eyes.
  • Comprehensive Acuity Scales: The testing surface includes highly legible lines of characters (numbers, letters) calibrated to correspond with standard notations, including:
    • Distance Equivalent fractions (up to 20/800 capability)
    • Jaeger equivalents
    • Point readings
  • Required Protocol: For accurate results, the card must be evenly illuminated, and the standard protocol requires testing each eye separately, and then both eyes together, typically while the patient is wearing any necessary corrective lenses.

Constructed from durable plastic, the pocket card also includes an integrated Pupil Gauge (2 mm to 9 mm) and measurement scales (millimeter and inch) on the reverse side for versatile clinical use.

Is the Rosenbaum card designed for quick assessments?

Yes, the Graham-Field Rosenbaum Pocket Vision Screener Card is ideal for rapid, reliable visual acuity assessments in clinical settings. Its design emphasizes portability and utility:

  • Portable and Durable: Made from durable plastic, the card measures only 3 1/2 inches x 6 3/8 inches, making it perfectly sized for a pocket or portable medical kit.
  • Distance Equivalent Testing: It allows you to quickly assess distance visual acuity (down to 20/800 equivalent) by holding the card just 14 inches from the patient’s eyes.
  • Integrated Tools: The card includes a clear Pupil Gauge (2 mm through 9 mm) and features both millimeter and inch scales on the reverse side for concurrent clinical reference.
Is the vision screener highly accurate?

Yes, the Rosenbaum Pocket Vision Screener Card is engineered to provide precise, clear, and legible visual acuity results that are equivalent to traditional distance charting.

This precision is achieved through:

  • Distance Equivalent Testing: The card assesses visual acuity down to a 20/800 equivalent while being held just 14 inches away from the patient, ensuring accuracy without needing a long testing lane.
  • Comprehensive Readings: It features multiple scales, allowing users to record acuity using fractional distance equivalents, Jaeger equivalents, and metric (Point) readings.
  • Integrated Tools: For thorough assessment, the card also includes an integrated Pupil Gauge (2 mm to 9 mm) and millimeter and inch scales on the reverse side.
Does the Rosenbaum Pocket Vision Screener Card have any additional features on the back?

Yes, the reverse side of the card features both a millimeter and inch scale for added functionality.

What is the distance equivalent for testing with the Graham-Field Rosenbaum Pocket Vision Screener Card?

The Graham-Field Rosenbaum Pocket Vision Screener Card provides a 20/800 distance equivalent testing at 14 inches.

What is included with the Rosenbaum Pocket Vision Screener?

The purchase includes one Graham-Field Rosenbaum Pocket Vision Screener Card. This single, durable plastic card is a multi-functional tool designed for quick, precise visual acuity assessment at a near distance.

The card is equipped with several essential features integrated directly into its design:

  • Distance Equivalent Testing: Visual acuity lines calibrated to test vision down to 20/800 distance equivalent when held at the required 14-inch distance.
  • Integrated Pupil Gauge: A measurement tool ranging from 2 mm to 9 mm is printed at the bottom for ancillary measurements.
  • Dual Reference Scales: The reverse side includes both a millimeter scale and an inch scale for general reference measurements.
  • Acuity Indicators: Includes lines calibrated with corresponding Point, Jaeger, and distance equivalent readings.
Does this tool help with precise pupil measurement?

Yes, this card is designed for versatile clinical utility. In addition to visual acuity testing, it features an integrated pupil gauge on the card. This allows clinicians to accurately assess pupil size in millimeters, making it a highly efficient, multi-purpose tool for rapid ocular examinations.

What material is the Rosenbaum Pocket Vision Screener Card made of?

The Rosenbaum Pocket Vision Screener Card is constructed from durable plastic.

What are the precise dimensions of the card?

The portable Rosenbaum Pocket Vision Screener Card measures 3 1/2 inches by 6 3/8 inches (3.5” x 6.375”).
