Description

Grafco Berman-Type Oral Airways are made of smooth, flexible white polyethylene and utilize a dual channel design that allows a suction catheter or endotracheal tube to slide into the pharyngeal space even if the airway is partially obstructed. The disposable airways are available in six sizes to provide proper sizing for each patient. Kits come complete with all six sizes in a plastic bag or box.Features:• Reinforced bite block prevents airway collapse• Disposable for single-patient use• Non-sterile, non-toxic polyethylene• Gas/cold sterilizable• Not made with natural rubber latex• Made in the U.S.A.Note: Airway will stay in place without securement by keeping patient's head in a tilted position. Taping an oropharyngeal airway in place is contraindicated as it can lead to aspiration if the patient starts to gag or cough and can't expel the device. Airways should be removed intermittently according to your facility's policy and the patient's condition to inspect oral cavities and provide mouth care. Proper sizing is essential to ensure airway patency; device intended to be used by properly trained healthcare professionals.

Frequently asked questions

Does it feature a helpful dual-channel design?

Yes, these Graham-Field Berman-Type Oral Airways feature a critical dual-channel design.

This configuration is a key functional element, designed to ensure medical staff can easily manage the patient’s airway:

  • It maintains overall airway patency.
  • It facilitates the passage of a suction catheter or endotracheal tube into the pharyngeal space.

This design ensures unobstructed access, even if anatomical structures cause a partial obstruction.

Is the material non-toxic?

Absolutely. The airway is made from flexible, non-toxic polyethylene.

Does it have a reinforced bite block?

Yes, it includes a reinforced bite block. This feature is designed to prevent the airway from collapsing during use, ensuring consistent performance.

Is it latex-free?

These airways are not made with natural rubber latex.

Is it designed for single use?

Yes, these airways are intended for single-patient use. This design helps to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.

Are the oral airways offered in multiple sizes?

Yes, these Graham-Field Berman-Type Oral Airways are available in a total of six distinct sizes to ensure an accurate and proper fit across various patient populations.

Selecting the correct size is crucial for maintaining effective airway patency.

The confirmed sizes include:

  • 40 mm: Neonatal
  • 50 mm: Infant
  • 80 mm: Small Adult
  • 90 mm: Medium Adult
Is this product made in the U.S.A.?

Yes, these Berman-Type Oral Airways are made in the U.S.A.

Are these Berman airways shipped sterile?

No, the Graham-Field Berman-Type Oral Airways are provided in a non-sterile condition. They are designed for disposable, single-patient use.

While they are non-sterile upon receipt, they can be processed if necessary:

  • They are compatible with gas or cold sterilization.
  • They are constructed from non-toxic polyethylene.
  • They are explicitly Not made with natural rubber latex, ensuring they are safe for use on patients with latex sensitivity.
Does the airway feature a dual channel design?

Yes, the Graham-Field Berman-Type Oral Airways are engineered with a crucial dual channel design.

This design significantly enhances patient safety and airway management by:

  • Maintaining pharyngeal patency (an open airway).
  • Facilitating the passage of ancillary devices, such as a suction catheter or an endotracheal tube, into the pharyngeal space.
  • Ensuring tube access even if the airway is experiencing partial obstruction.
How should this oral airway be properly secured?

The Berman-Type Oral Airway is designed to stay in place primarily through correct patient positioning and proper sizing, eliminating the need for external fasteners.

  • Securement: The device maintains stability and patency when the patient’s head is correctly positioned and tilted.
  • Safety Warning (Critical): It is strictly contraindicated to tape the airway in place. Taping prevents the airway from being immediately expelled if the patient gags or coughs, which significantly increases the risk of aspiration.
  • Design Protection: The airway features a reinforced bite block to prevent the patient from accidentally collapsing the device during use.
