Description

Econo Weitlaner Retractor is a self-retaining, finger ring retractor with a cam ratchet lock used for holding back tissue and exposing a surgical site. It has curved shanks that lead to blades that have between two and six, sharp or blunt, outward curving prongs. The prongs interdigitate when the instrument is closed. The Weitlaner retractor is a popular instrument, most commonly used in basic plastic surgery, large bone and joint procedures, and mastoid surgeries. It is also useful with small, deep incisions and soft tissue dissection at a superficial level. Econo instruments are Sklar's floor-grade, disposable instruments and are sold in bulk quantities. This product has 2x3 blunt prongs and a length of 4-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does the ratchet design allow for hands-free use?

Yes, this retractor is equipped with a cam ratchet lock. This mechanism is designed for self-retaining operation, allowing it to hold tissue securely in place so you can maintain consistent retraction without needing to hold the instrument manually.

Are the prongs designed to minimize tissue trauma?

Absolutely. This model features 2x3 blunt prongs that are specifically engineered to interdigitate when the instrument is closed. By using blunt tips rather than sharp ones, it provides effective retraction while significantly reducing the risk of tissue trauma during delicate procedures.

Is the material safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, the Econo Weitlaner Retractor is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for patients with latex sensitivities.

What is the primary benefit of the Econo floor-grade line?

Sklar’s Econo floor-grade line is designed to be highly cost-effective for high-volume surgical workflows. These instruments offer a reliable, disposable solution that helps streamline your surgical inventory management without sacrificing the precision required for routine tasks.

Are these retractors suitable for small, deep incisions?

Yes, the 4-1/2 inch length and the refined prong configuration make this retractor particularly effective for maintaining visibility within small, deep incisions and during superficial soft tissue dissection.

What is the standard packaging for this instrument?

The Econo Weitlaner Retractors are sold in bulk to support efficient clinical operations. Each unit of measure consists of a box containing 12 individual retractors.

Does the stainless steel construction ensure durability?

Yes, the retractor is constructed from durable stainless steel. This provides the necessary structural integrity and reliability to perform effectively during its intended single-use application.

Is this instrument delivered in a sterile state?

No, these retractors are shipped non-sterile. Please ensure that standard facility protocols for sterilization or preparation are followed prior to use in a surgical setting.

Can this retractor be used for orthopedic procedures?

Yes, due to its versatile design, this retractor is commonly utilized in various clinical settings, including large bone and joint procedures, as well as basic plastic surgery and mastoid surgeries.

How do the prongs behave when the retractor is closed?

When the instrument is closed, the outward-curving prongs are designed to interdigitate precisely. This controlled alignment ensures the retractor stays securely in position while providing uniform tension on the tissue.
