Description

Econo Littauer Suture Scissors are a disposable, floor-grade instrument used for suture removal. These scissors have a small hook shaped tip on one blade that slides under sutures to slightly lift them before cutting for removal. This hook also holds the suture so it does not slip off the blade of the scissors prior to cutting. Littauer suture scissors typically have larger, less delicate tips than Spencer Stitch Scissors, and are often used for removing larger sutures. They should not be used for cutting tissue. Econo instruments are Sklar's floor-grade, disposable instruments and are sold in bulk quantities.

Frequently asked questions

Are these scissors effective for thicker suture materials?

Yes, the Littauer design features larger, more robust tips compared to standard Spencer scissors, making them specifically optimized for removing heavier and thicker suture types.

Does the hook design prevent the suture from slipping?

Absolutely. The specialized hook-shaped tip on one blade is designed to slide easily beneath the suture to lift and secure it in place, ensuring the material remains stable during the cutting process.

Are these instruments safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, these scissors are 100% latex-free and are not made with natural rubber latex, ensuring safety for patients with sensitivities.

Can these scissors be used for cutting tissue as well?

No, these are strictly designed for suture removal only. They are not intended for cutting human tissue.

What kind of material are these disposable scissors made of?

These instruments are crafted from high-quality stainless steel, ensuring they maintain structural integrity and a sharp cutting edge for their intended single-use application.

Are these scissors pre-sterilized?

No, these are supplied as non-sterile instruments. Please follow your facility’s protocols regarding instrument preparation before use.

How many units come in a single box?

Each box contains 12 individual units, making them an efficient choice for high-volume clinical environments.

Are these suitable for high-volume clinical settings?

Yes, as Econo floor-grade instruments, they are specifically intended for environments that require bulk quantities of reliable, disposable surgical tools.

What is the physical configuration of the tips?

The scissors feature a blunt/blunt (B/B) tip configuration, which is paired with the integrated suture hook to safely lift threads without causing unintended trauma.

Is the design comfortable for regular use?

Yes, they feature a standard finger ring handle design, allowing for a secure grip and easy maneuverability during repetitive suture removal tasks.
