Description

Econo Rochester-Oschner Forceps are a heavy instrument designed to aggressively grasp medium to heavy tissue or occlude heavy, dense vessels. They have horizontal serrations the entire length of the jaw as well as 1 X 2 teeth at the tip. The combination of full serrations plus teeth ensure a firm grip on the tissue or vessel being held. Rochester-Oschner Forceps are available either curved or straight and in multiple lengths. These forceps are sometimes referred to as simply Oschner Forceps, however, Rochester-Oschner Forceps are actually heavier than standard Oschner Forceps. Econo instruments are Sklar's floor-grade, disposable instruments and are sold in bulk quantities. This product is straight with full, horizontally serrated jaws, 1 X 2 teeth, and a length of 7-1/4 inches. It is sold in boxes of 12.

Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps suitable for handling dense tissue?

Yes, these Rochester-Ochsner (Kocher) forceps are specifically designed for heavy-duty use. They are engineered to aggressively grasp medium to heavy tissue or occlude dense vessels, making them a robust choice for demanding surgical tasks.

How do these ensure a secure grip on tissue?

These forceps feature a dual-surface gripping mechanism for maximum reliability: 1. Full horizontal serrations along the entire length of the jaw. 2. 1x2 teeth at the tip for localized, firm tissue penetration and retention.

Is the stainless steel construction durable?

Yes, these instruments are constructed from high-quality stainless steel. Even as part of the Econo floor-grade line, they maintain the structural integrity required for firm vessel occlusion and tissue manipulation.

Are these forceps safe for patients with latex allergies?

Absolutely. These instruments are completely latex-free and are not manufactured with any natural rubber latex.

Do these forceps come pre-sterilized?

No, these units are supplied non-sterile. They should be processed according to your facility’s specific protocols for disposable surgical equipment before use.

Why would I choose the 'Econo' grade over others?

The Econo grade is Sklar’s specialized disposable line. These are an excellent solution for high-volume settings or cost-sensitive applications where the efficiency and convenience of a single-use instrument are preferred over the overhead of sterilization cycles.

How does the straight design impact surgical utility?

The straight configuration is ideal for operative fields where direct access is required. It is specifically beneficial for maintaining vessel occlusion or securing tissue in areas where the curvature of standard forceps might not be optimal.

Are these forceps easy to lock during use?

Yes, they feature a standard, professional-grade handle design. It includes comfortable finger rings and a locking ratchet mechanism, allowing the surgeon to maintain consistent pressure on the clamped tissue without continued manual effort.

What is the total length of these forceps?

These forceps measure 7-1/4 inches in total length, providing an optimal balance between reach and leverage for standard surgical procedures.

How many forceps are included in a standard order?

Each unit ordered represents one box (BX) containing 12 individual forceps, making them convenient for stocking in busy clinical or surgical environments.
