Description

Econo Utility Scissors are a multipurpose instrument used for cutting non-sterile materials such as dressings, casts, and surgical drapes. These scissors are angled and have one serrated blade and one smooth blade. The flattened, wide, blunt tip on the serrated blade greatly reduces the likelihood of skin being nicked if the scissors are used for cutting material that is on the patient, such as clothing or bandages. They should never be used to cut tissue or sutures. One plastic finger ring is larger than the other for maximized control while cutting. Econo instruments are Sklar's floor-grade, disposable instruments and are sold in bulk quantities. This item is sold in boxes of 50.

Frequently asked questions

Are these scissors safe for use near skin?

Yes, these scissors are designed with enhanced patient safety in mind. They feature a flattened, wide, blunt tip on the serrated blade, which is specifically engineered to significantly reduce the risk of accidental skin nicks when cutting materials directly against a patient.

Can these easily cut through tough dressing materials?

Absolutely. The scissors utilize a specialized dual-blade design: one serrated blade provides a superior grip on materials, while the smooth companion blade ensures a clean, precise cut. This combination makes them highly effective for cutting through challenging items like:

  • Thick bandages
  • Surgical drapes
  • Cast materials
Will these scissors offer good control during use?

Yes, they are built with ergonomic control as a priority. The offset finger rings—including one larger ring—provide the user with improved leverage and maximized maneuverability, allowing for steady and precise operation during clinical tasks.

Are these materials safe for individuals with latex allergies?

Yes, these scissors are 100% latex-free and are not manufactured using natural rubber latex.

What is the primary material used in these blades?

These instruments are constructed from high-quality stainless steel, providing durability and a reliable cutting edge for single-use applications.

Is there a specific way these should be handled?

While these are high-utility instruments, please note they are strictly for material use only. They should never be used to cut human tissue or sutures.

Do these arrive sterilized?

No, these scissors are provided as non-sterile instruments. They are intended for use with non-sterile clinical materials.

Are they suitable for high-volume clinical settings?

Yes, their disposable nature makes them a highly efficient and cost-effective solution for busy clinics, hospitals, or environments where managing large volumes of non-sterile cutting tasks is required.
