Description

Econo Utility Scissors are a multipurpose instrument used for cutting non-sterile materials such as dressings, casts, and surgical drapes. These scissors are angled and have one serrated blade and one smooth blade. The flattened, wide, blunt tip on the serrated blade greatly reduces the likelihood of skin being nicked if the scissors are used for cutting material that is on the patient, such as clothing or bandages. They should never be used to cut tissue or sutures. One plastic finger ring is larger than the other for maximized control while cutting. Econo instruments are Sklar's floor-grade, disposable instruments and are sold in bulk quantities. This item is sold in boxes of 50.

Frequently asked questions

Are these scissors safe for use on patients?

Do these blades effectively cut through heavy dressings?

Absolutely. The scissors feature a specialized blade configuration where one blade is serrated and the other is smooth. This design provides an efficient cutting action, making them ideal for tough materials such as:

  • Surgical drapes
  • Heavy bandages
  • Cast materials
Is the handle designed for long-term comfort?

The ergonomic handle is built to provide improved grip and precision. It features one oversized plastic finger ring, which allows for better control during repetitive clinical tasks.

Are these scissors made with latex?

No, these scissors are 100% latex-free. They are not manufactured with natural rubber latex, making them safe for use in environments where latex allergies are a concern.

Are these tools suitable for sterile clinical environments?

These scissors are provided as non-sterile floor-grade instruments. They are intended for disposable use, which helps maintain efficiency and cleanliness in your clinical workflow by eliminating the need for sterilization processing.

How durable are the materials used?

These instruments are constructed with high-quality stainless steel blades, providing a sturdy and reliable cutting edge. The handles are made from durable, molded plastic, ensuring the scissors remain functional throughout their intended disposable life cycle.

Can I use these for surgical procedures on tissue?

No. These utility scissors are designed exclusively for cutting materials like dressings, drapes, and clothing. They should never be used on human tissue or sutures.

Does the angled design help in tight spaces?

Yes, the angled design is a key feature that assists in navigating around objects or patients, providing better visibility and maneuverability compared to straight-blade utility scissors.

Is there enough supply in one order?

Each unit of measure is a bulk case containing 50 scissors. This quantity is designed to offer a cost-effective and convenient solution for busy medical environments, clinics, or emergency response settings.

Are they easy to identify in a busy kit?

Yes, these scissors feature a distinctive Royal Blue color on the molded plastic handles. This bright aesthetic ensures they are easily identifiable and stand out when stored in medical kits or triage trays.
